For all of the negativity I've seen on here lately (real negativity, not ball-busting), this is very cool to watch.

    10 days for 10k!

Don't forget that if you get the donations in today you can write them off on 2012 taxes. Means you can donate a bit more then you thought. That is if you itemize

I will def be getting in on this at the end of this week. This is such a great idea and I actually cant believe how many people and how much you have gotten. That is just amazing!

I know what you meant but just to make it clear I don't get anything, everyone donates directly to the charities. It should also be how much THEY have gotten and how much WE have donated ;)

But don't downplay your role either. Whether it was just a spur to do something someone had already thought of but just didn't get around to or maybe they heard the news but then it slipped to the back of their minds as daily life and their own troubles took over to the (possible) few who just wanted to try for some beer, the fact that this thread exists played the largest part in the donations. While it's the contributors who deserve a TON of praise, don't forget that you do too.

Feel good cfh64, you done did an awesome thing right here.

Just in case anyone is wondering, donations have slowed to 3 in the past 24 hours. Be sure to let other BA's know what we're doing here and encourage them to donate :)

Donation made and BM sent. This is an incredible thing that was started. A great idea and freaking amazing participation. Im not too active on the trading boards (not at all- yet), but I'm glad I ran across this last night. Cheers to cfh64 for starting it and Cheers to everyone who has participated in it. This is one pretty awesome community.

I donated $10 to the Newton Parent Connection via the website. If I was supposed to do anything special, I was not aware.

*Edit another BA user agreed to send me something I really wanted and instead of asking for anything in return, suggested that perhaps I make a donation. I did, it feels good, and you don't need to consider me in the drawing to win anything, as I'm already getting something I want

We have to be inching closer to that 6k threshold. Remember that the person who's donation pushes us over 6k will get a box from me.

This is a pretty incredible display of BA generosity. As a relatively new father (see pic on left), I can't fathom what the families have been going through. I'm thankful for guys like Brad and everyone else who donated.

I just realized that while I had donated a box and bottle to this amazing LIF, I had not donated any money. Your post inspired me to do just that. Thank you for posting this Hero's memorial fund.

My donation should get taken care of Friday night or Saturday, once I find the time to research which charity I'm picking. In the meantime, I just started my own LIF I was overdue on in which I stipulate that the winner has to have donated via your LIF. Hopefully it attracts a few new people to donate!

Since I am gifting a box, I am not entering in my donation. But....

I am getting excited building my box of CT brewed beers for 1 lucky winner!

Do I hear $7000?! COME ON!

JM03 has a box lined up for the donor who puts the $$ mark over $7000, and I will reward the person who takes the total over $7500 a box of big stouts: a '10 Abyss, an '11 Abyss and a '12 Dark Lord. $7500 is plenty doable for this community. Let's get 'er going!!:)

Donations have become rather stagnant but I couldn't be happier with what we have done so far.

    129 donations
    $6,220 raised
621 entries in the drawing *one person did not want to be entered*
15 "thank you" boxes will be sent out *remember you can only win once and will receive the first box your name is drawn with*

    Here's the break down

Sandy Hook School Support Fund- $1,270
    Newtown Memorial Fund- $1,130
    Give Forward- $950
Noahs Ark of Hope Fund- $930
Newtown Youth and Family Services- $630
    Newtown Parent Connection- $560
My Sandy Hook Family Fund- $540
    Dawn Hochsprung Memorial Fund- $80
    Supporting Newtown Teachers- $80
    Emilie Parker Memorial Fund- $30
Friends of the Engel Family Fund- $20

You guys have done a fantabulous job! I like the diversity of the charities that everyone has donated to as well. We still have one more week to hit $7,000! Spread the word :)

Finally got my donation in, email sent. I chose the Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung Memorial because I know how tough college can be with little to no financial support and the scholarship goes to benefit students pursuing a career in education. I have two professors and a teacher on my father's side of the family and on my mother's side my mother, her cousin, my great aunt and great grandmother were all teachers. It's a tough job these days what with poor pay, lack of effective disciplining techniques for fear of parent reactions, questionable "No Child" laws, extremely rigorous educational requirements for teachers in many districts, etc and that's all without the growing trend in school violence in the past 15 years.

We need all the great teachers this country can find. Sounds like this principal was going above and beyond on that horrible day - just as most teachers do everyday for their students.

With all of these incentives/thank you's being given out at $7,000, $7,500, and $8,000 I will be mum on the donation total until we hit the first milestone of $7,000. Let's get going, I will cut it off at 11:59 pm Jan 10th which is this upcoming Thursday.
