Hey FL BAs... I'm heading to Sanibel with my family in a couple weeks and I have a question. Funky Budha is about 2.5 hours away...is it worth taking half a day or so to head over? If I do, will they have bottles to sell? Not sure the wife will even sign off on this, but I thought if we had a bad weather day it might be an option. Cheers,
Unless there is an event with a special tap list driving 2.5 hours to FB is not worth it, you should be able to find their bottles in Ft Myers
Civil Society is great, but that's a 3.5 hour drive from Sanibel Island. Seems like a long drive for brewery visit. I'd go to Momentum in Bonita Springs and/or Fat Point in ...well Punta Gorda (Spanish for Fat Point).
FB would be worth the drive if you're going Sunday, February 28th. There's an event with a great taplist.
Bonita brew fest is Saturday the 27th. Went last year pretty good lineup and a lot of fun. You're very close to point ybel I agree get there
Thanks everybody, great tips. I'll definitely hit Point Ybel, and I'll check out a couple of the others as well. Any advice on bottle shops in Ft Myers that might have FB bottles or other good stuff?
Number 3(Google as No. 3) is a great bottle shop/bar/growler place in Cape Coral. Near there is ABC Liqours Cape Coral and the guy there works to get good stuff in. In Ft. Myers proper the only solid place is Total Wine.
Even though there's a good possibility they might still have Last Snow and No Crusts on draft, it's not worth pissing off the wife (nor the drive for that matter). The only big format bottles they'll have for sale at the brewery, Nikolai Vorlauf and Iron & Barleywine, have seen wide distribution and you are likely to see them at a Whole Foods or Total Wine near where you're staying. Also there's a probability that some bar or restaurant will have Last Snow on draft so check for that when you touch down. Enjoy your vaca
