    Hey guys,

Brewed my first batch of beer this weekend, had a good recipe from a local brew store and it went smoothly. However until the end of the process as I was putting the wort into the fermenting bucket and closed the lid, I attempted to put the air lock into the small hole on the lid. Unfortunately the circular rubber piece of the airlock fell into the wort. I then sanitized a large spoon and tried to fish it out, without any luck. I know I can't do anything about it now, but did I ruin my batch?

It will be fine, relax, don't worry and have a soda. If you haven't yet, I would pick up another rubber seal at your local homebrew store, sanitize and put the airlock on at least once the initial vigorous fermentation has subsided.

Why didn't you sanitize your arm and stick that in to fish it out?
