Does anyone have any experience with using a Sanke Keg as a Solera? I am starting mine in a couple of weeks once primary is complete and was looking to hear from anyone else who has one or done it before.

It should work. Just be cautious about O2 ingress.

I have 2 corny kegs of Rare Barrel blonde base that got a YB Melange and YB Amagamation Brett each. From samples and FG, I plan on blending them into a final beer in a month or 2, that will get a month to stabilize in a new keg, then bottle condition. The remainder in each keg, except for the dregs, will get bottle conditioned without blending. I'll have 2 fermented beers that I will transfer on top of the 0.5 gal of dregs and let them go another year. This will be my version of a solera. I'm not sure how long I can keep this up, but I'm pressing forward regardless.

    I say go for it.

Thanks. I plan to complete primary fermentation in carboys and rack all 15 gallons to the keg and dose with more bugs. I am using a orange carboy cap with an airlock attached while it's sitting in the keg. I am going to purge with CO2 periodically via the second tube to reduce chances of O2 seepage

Each year I'll pull out off half the keg to bottle or referment on various fruits then replace that racked off volume with freshly fermented beer.
