Typed Santa Fe in search box and got zero results back.
Looks like about 10+ brewery’s in town according to Place Search. And 6+ stores for cans & bottles to go. I’ve had Santa Fe Brewing cans I bought in Vegas in the past.
We will be visiting Santa Fe Sept 21-23. Just wondering what brewery’s should I check out? Also what stores is good for cans/bottles to go? Bars/pubs with a good taplist?
I’m looking for ipa’s(west coast & hazy) and stouts. Thank you in advance.

There's fire and hops, Rowley Farmhouse, Violet Crown and the bar at the Whole Foods for good local draft selections. Susan's and Whole Foods will certainly cover you for anything packaged. As far as breweries that are up there, honestly the only one I have frequented is Second Street and I feel that they are the most improved brewery in the state over the last few years. Pretty good food as well, and their Rufina location is really ideal if you are going to spend the morning at Meow Wolf... and you should spend a morning at Meow Wolf. The pilsner was on point last time I was there. But I don't get out much and haven't tried any of the newer places up there. Let me know if you plan on spending anytime down in ABQ. I'd be happy to give a tour of La Cumbre if it interests. Enjoy your time in our state.

Thank you. I may end up in Albuquerque for the day on Sunday. Trip plans not set in stone. I’m in Santa Fe for concerts Sat/Sun nights. Bandelier Natl Monument on Saturday. Just trying to hit up a few places for a short weekend in Santa Fe. Cheers.

Ha. Tell me about it. Long story. Nothing to worry. I love my independent craft beer.

Second Street is a must stop, IMO as well, in Santa Fe. And I stick with the Rufina location when up there. Don't go expecting anything sexy or trendy, just expect a bunch of styles that typically land in a brewery's flagship lineups done well.

I'd also put Santa Fe Brewing, specifically their Brakeroom (taproom) location, as a Santa Fe must stop. I can get behind the comments about Scond Street being the most improved NM brewery over these past few years, but that has actually been how I have personally viewed Santa Fe Brewing.

Rowley Farmhouse Ales generally has a fantastic tap list, solid food, and their own beer which is worth trying but has never been as good as I want it to be. Tumbleroot is a cool spot to catch a show and drink a beer at, but the beer continues to be a work in progress. There's some brewery on the plaza that is Boese Brothers in disguise and worth avoiding. Blue Corn Brewing, only been to once and never motivated to return to.

That's my Santa Fe brewery exposure and opinions.

You want a West Coast IPA....La Cumbre Elevated is a f'in must when in NM.

Hey, stop recommending the Brakeroom, I want to be able to step in there on my next visit.

The Cider place off of Cerillos has a good selection of NM beers.

Second Street in the Railyard is a stop, I need to go to the production facility.

Rowley, not able to enjoy sours these days, but they have good guest taps, my wife likes it, food was very good.

Ask the locals where to go. I find a new place that way every trip.

I’ll be there this weekend. Going to a concert Sat/Sun night at the Paradiso. I was wondering what Meow Wolf was about. Another venue for music. Looks interesting. I will definitely be checking out Second Street Rufina location.
@erway @denver10 How are the brewery’s and pub policies on bringing your own cans and bottles in and sharing? We travel a lot and almost every time I like to bring cans/bottles with me to share at brewery’s and pubs I visit. I’ve got some Revision and Monkish cans I’d like to share or maybe trade.
Also any good mexican restaurant in Santa Fe?
    Thanks guys.

La Cumbre is in Albuquerque? If we do decide a day trip to ABQ, La Cumbre for sure?

The law is pretty cut and dry as far as bringing in beer to share... Some breweries might look the other way, but most will not.

Not many Mexican restaurants here. If you're wanting New Mexican, I like La Choza a lot. The Shed has the same menu but often has a line because it's located on the plaza. And I still like Maria's rellenos and while not as consistent as they used to be, their margaritas are still some of the best anywhere.

Yes, they are Albuquerque and if you come down to ABQ they are a must stop. Marble and Bow & Arrow would also be worthy considerations if you have the time to do a couple stops. But with your West Coast IPA interest, La Cumbre for sure. And it isn't too often you get the owner/brewer of a brewery personally offering to take you on a tour of his brewery, so added benefit to coming down and visiting.

At the very least, find a can or a draft pour of Elevated IPA while here.

Meow Wolf is an interesting museum. Alice in Wonderland on a multi dose acid trip. An interesting place to check out, though can't say I am much of a fan personally. Admittedly, I have only been once for a Melvins concert and didn't have the attention span to follow what the museum was about.

As for Mexican Food in Santa Fe, Pasquals is awesome albeit pricey and busy....but absolutely worth it. If you want some African/Caribbean, Jambo's remains my favorite restaurant in New Mexico.

    There are Mexican Restaurants.

I prefer the ones with New Mexican food are my preference. There is a difference. It is a mix of Spanish, Mexican, and Pueblo cooking. Green Chile will be an ingredient in many dishes. Black beens are often used instead of Pinto beans. Blue Corn Tortillas in some dishes. You don't get the garlic and cumin spices like TexMex, paprika is used. Potatoes or posole are used instead of rice. Get a Green Chile Cheeseburger if you want a burger.

Favorites are Pasquale's, La Chosa (Spanish for the Shed), Tomasitas, Tia Sophia's (br. and lunch), del Charo for a Green Chile Cheeseburger.

Finishing up my quick in and out trip in Santa Fe. I’ll be flying out tomorrow am out of ABQ. I must say there isn’t much haze in New Mexico. The only one I had was from Second Street (Sloppy Sloth). And it wasn’t much of a haze. I also had 2920 IPA. It was okay. I actually liked and preferred their regular IPA of the 3. Food? We thought the food was very good at 2nd Street. Overall a good brewery for sure. I did have Elevated IPA from La Cumbria. Very good. Also had a Project Dank can. Also good. Didn’t care for Santa Fe IPA. Enjoyed the New Mexican food here. Overall? Great trip. Loved hiking up in the Santa Fe National Forest.

Albuquerque has the bigger beer scene, that's where you'll find the hazier IPA's. I don't like them so I don't drink or follow them, but I seem to see them around a good deal. I have noticed them at most of the breweries I frequent.

Which Santa Fe IPA did you try, 7K or Hoppy Camper?

I don’t remember the can said SF IPA. I could be wrong. Sorry don’t remember. But La Cumbre was very good for sure. I prefer west coast over the haze. But always looking to try a good haze. If your familiar with Monkish, you’d know what I mean.

This guys visit already happened and I’m just skulking around in this thread randomly but need to say hell yeah here! New Mexican food is amazing, haven’t been in a number of years but I miss it and love it. My folks are big into it too and we try to get to NM when we can. Pops has his hatch green chiles on mail order.

Yes, congrats to Rowley. They actually won multiple medals. Not much of a sour fan so haven't tried the beers, personally, but 3 medals suggests they are getting their stuff together. I think I read a while ago they finally brought in a full time, experienced head brewer? If so, maybe that decision is starting to pay off in their product. In all honesty, it has been a long time since I have drank anything from them other than a sour farmhouse and not being a sour guy it wasn't my thing, but maybe next time I am up in Santa Fe I will make a stop at Rowley. Lately, Second Street has been my go to Santa Fe stop.

Tumbleroot got a medal too for their double brown. Congrats to them. I will admit to being shocked to see their name on that list. Maybe I should revisit that beer? My one experience with it, it was certainly not metal worthy good (though it was one of the better beers I have tried from them....a relative statement).
