Beer Thirty and Aptos BBQ, maybe Lupulo too for great beer. I think Aptos bbq allows outside bottles, B30 and Sante no. They'll take them for sure, just most likely won't open them.

Had SARA "Conduct Frequency" IPA. Very Good. They have nailed a few of their attempts at the NE IPA. Citra and Azacca.

i wouldnt describe it as an attempt at a NE IPA. SARA has never filtered their IPAs

Good point. Unfiltered is a better term. 831, Clock and Compass, Simpleton IPA as well.

I like what they are doing. Will be cool to see the expansion into Santa Cruz.

Just curious, but which breweries filter their beer? You can make clear beer without filtering, btw.

i dont care which breweries filter their beer or that you can make clear beer without filtering. the point isnt that these specific beers are specifically unfiltered. the point is that Sante hops have always looked like this and the "hazy" look isnt them trying to jump on the NEipa bandwagon

I care. My question wasn't directed specifically at you, so don't get all jumpy. While it's obvious that the hazy appearance of Sante's IPAs means they're unfiltered, if they were to make a clear IPA, that doesn't mean they're all of a sudden using filtration. The same goes for the opposite. I recall a conversation some time ago in which some folks were talking about a clear beer being filtered when some time later in the thread the brewer chimed in to reveal that the beer was, in fact, unfiltered.

Anyway, I realize you were simply stating a fact. I just saw the word "unfiltered" and the alarm bells went off in my head. haha Can't control my inner pedant most of the time.

Did anyone else have Dutch Door on tap at Toronado SF? It was so great.

I did! Did it really only last 10 minutes?

I liked it but I thought the Brett was a little too powerful. I'm not sure if more age would improve it?

Yea. They started doing pre pours because of how crazy it got. Also witnessed them drop a few glasses behind the bar . I was hoping the bottles were being released yesterday since I won't make it on Saturday. Between that and T30 it's going to be a shit show in there.

Aww shucks. I was interested in keeping one for 6-12 months to see how it'd taste. But I'll be there Saturday for the S-show for sure.

So I got a chance to visit SARA yesterday and it happened to coincide with them having Nonna's Blend #13 bottles for sale (started Wednesday, but they still had a bunch.)

But it also happened to coincide with them having on tap:

    - Dutch Door (Toronado 30th collab beer, kicked within an hour)
    - We Are You (Tired Hands/Side Project/Jackie O's collab)

Pretty cool stuff. I took a home a 1L growler of

    - Posthaste : a rye pale ale with Simcoe, which I thought was fantastic.

They're pretty underrated for their hoppy beers, but I love that you can go there and enjoy hops and funk/tart, since they do them so well. I need to try more of their malt-driven porters and stouts before I make any determination about that. I'm usually just not feeling like trying them for whatever reason.
