Anyone planning on heading down? I'll be in from out of town and would love to do a small share – haven't had very many of their beers and it's always nice to meet local BAs while on the road. Also anyone with ideas about an affordable place to stay for a night (or even a guest room or futon – a man can dream!), feel free to message me directly. Beer tips welcome too, of course, though I bet I can find those on the forums. Cheers!
They are having a special event on Saturday with auctions for special bottles, special kegs flowing etc. should be a good size crowd with a bunch of great people. Wish I could go. By special event, I mean open to the public, fundraising effort for Wrigley.
Is something going on there this weekend or you created a thread cause you are going to a brewery this weekend? Try Hotels.com & airbnb.com for a cheap place to stay. Edit: ahhhh, thanks grrrah
Thanks @grrrah – I had the event in mind but didn't know much about it other than what was on Facebook. Figure there will be a BA contingent. Should be a good time!
I'll most likely be there on Saturday. I'll warn you though, this will probably be the only weekend where you won't see many bottles being shared since they're trying to raise money for the brewery's favorite dog to have surgery. Then again, no one is gonna be mad if you show up with beers to share!
I'll be there on Saturday, albeit a little late. Planning to bring a couple bottles just in case, but they should have some good kegs on.
Definitely airbnb for a place to stay. That or Hotwire. For lunch, stop by aptos st bbq (full disclosure, I bartend there) or AJ's for a good burger and take it with you to SARA. Should be a good time that day.
What do you consider affordable as far as a place to stay? Not a lot between $200+ rooms and crack motels around here. The Rio Sands over off Rio Del Mar is decent and relatively inexpensive for this area. I would guess everything in Capitola village is going to be more $$ and you might be a little too short notice for airbnb.
@dfroms Spent 2 nights at Quality Inn on Hill St. not too far from SARA and it was pretty cheap (like $125 a night). Quiet. Clean and the bed was pretty good.
Yea what w_klon said. I usually stay at the quality inn in capitola. It was around $150 for this Saturday...it's a lot better than most similar brands of motels....
Thanks so much guys – really helpful tips. I think I've figured out a plan. Hope to meet some of you tomorrow! And on an unrelated note feel free to message me today if you're interested in an IP trade for some Hill Farmstead or other things.
