Picking it up today but wont be drinking it for a little while. The beers are:

    Prism White Ale
    Forbidden IPA
    Red IPA
    Dry Hop Lager
    Irish Stout
    Pale Ale

So Prism White Ale and Forbidden IPA are the new beers. Lets discuss them.

They both suck. Sorry, wish I could say otherwise.

For awhile there it seemed Saranac was making some progress, but that evaporated quickly IMO.

There is distinguishable and I likable thread which runs through all of their beers. Must be a common yeast? Dunno, I'm not brew savvy.

It stRts and ends with Black Forest Lager for me

Agreed... I still don't know how they are in the top 10 craft breweries in terms of volume.... all of their beers are just so damn mediocre... who keeps buying so much of it?

If you include contract brewing with FX Matt volumes, then it's easy to see how they would be top 10.

I had prism I thought it was good and even a bit better than just good. It had a bit too much dryness which made the body seem thin at first. But it drinks really well. Saranac is really putting it out. Their pale ale has an award, their wild hop pills was a treat from last year and the prism was drinkable and had no off flavors like ithaca ground break saison did.

I'm not even going to bother.

I used to really looking forward to their seasonal packs, but I haven't had a beer from them that I genuinely enjoyed in several years. There's so much else out there that's so much better. Every time they announce a "new" beer, I get really excited and then realize that it tastes like every other beer they put out in those packs.

Just start brewing Chocolate Orange Porter again. Please. That beer was terrific and sold out quickly - why mess with success?

Reminds me of the Magic Hat seasonal packs. Just my opinion, of course, but I haven't had a GOOD beer from them in years...

Saranac has a small handful of good beers, at least in my opinion. I think Black Forest, Legacy, Big Moose, and White IPA are pretty tasty. The rest are boring, but good if there's nothing else around.

They recently brewed another batch. It was available in 4-packs this time.

Yeah, I found that out a couple days after posting this. Just saw it on the shelf today for the first time - $10 for a four pack? Sure beats the $7 I think I paid when it was in bombers! I was hoping it'd be priced in line with their other High Peaks beers, but I'm just happy to see it back.

Its on the cheap side of craft beer. I agree, what I've had of theirs is middle of the road, but its the kind of beer I might bring to a party where everyone else is drinking BMC.

Has Legacy IPA been released in their own 6 pks and/or 12 pks? I can't find it in my area (Corning).

I've seen 6 packs of cans at the Geneseo Wegmans.

Agree - I found the the Caramel Porter and the Black Forest dunkel pretty tasty back in 2005, according to my database, but haven't had any since. Why? There's so many good beers out there, why drink mediocre stuff. That said, this thread is tempting me to try the Legacy IPA and the Chocolate Orange Porter.

Forbidden IPA isnt that bad. People knocking it are being too harsh IMO. I mean its no higher than a 7/10 for me but it doesnt suck.

Prism is pretty tasty as well. Their beers over the past year plus have gotten better. Check out the Irish Stout in the variety pack for example. It is an older beer and is a lame thin and watery stout.

I was very impressed with their Winter pack and their Spring pack this year - all solid tasty easy drinking beers. Sure, they don't make hop bombs or imperials like most of the other craft breweries, but they do make good solid beers for considerably less than most other craft brands. I only ever had one Legacy - hidden in a 12 pack last year - and I recall that it was very good. They keep posting on Facebook that they're distributing it, but I have yet to see it... and I buy my beer in New York, one would think that it would be there first.

I did see it recently when I was in NY, but it was a little old so I didn't get it. But I really liked the one can I had in their mix 12 pack so I would buy this if I ever saw a fresh 6 pack.

Many places around my neck of the woods are still trying to get rid of their winter stock of Legacy 4pk pint cans. It's the only beer Saranac makes that I truly enjoy, and the wait for regular distribution is becoming irritating.
