Last minute trip planned to Sarasota just looking for a little help....

Staying at the Holiday Inn on Ben Franklin Dr in Lido Beach. I've done some research (BA, Google, Yelp) so I know what's located in the area however I would like your take on what's good. Wife is pregnant so I have a driver to take me places located outside the location of the hotel....Mr Beery's, Tavern on Main?

Would also love recommendations on a couple of places for lunch/dinner. Do I avoid St Armand's circle or embrace it?

I saw someone mention a whole foods and total wine for stores... Looking for a place to stock up on the drive from the Tampa airport.

    Thanks guys,
    Jason

Avoid St. Armands as much as possible. You'll still have to drive through that clusterf#%k any time you want to go anywhere though. For places to drink In Sarasota you have Tavern on Main and Beerys as you know. Also be sure to hit Mandeville Beer Garden, JDubs Brewing, and The Shamrock. There's also two World of Beer locations that have a LOT of taps and bottles. Just keep in mind that quantity doesn't usually equal quality at either one. And don't get me started on the service...

Hit Total Wine, Whole Foods, and the ABC for bottles. The Total Wine in south Sarasota and the ABC on Bee Ridge Rd also do growler fills. There is also a new place in Lakewood Ranch called Craft Growlers To Go.

From your location on Lido, I'd hit up Tavern on Main and Mandevile, both of which are pretty close and should have good taps. For food on the circle, I would definitely try the Surf Shack—great tacos. And the Shore Diner is really good to for a nice dinner.

We will be in town for the Super Bowl - any recommendations on where to watch the game?

    Appreciate all the help guys.

Check out Drum Circle Distillery. They are a small batch craft rum distillery. They make Siesta Key Rum. If you can find a bottle of their Toasted Coconut you won't be disappointed.

This may sound silly in a beer thread, but dude is right. Go getcha the best rum being made right now. You don't drink rum? You will.

How's Evie's Tavern & Grill on main st? Good for watching a game? Decent food? I assume most places in FL have jai alai either on draft or cans....

Good sports bar and decent food, but pretty generic. Think Buffalo Wild Wings but locally owned. They'll have some fine beers to wash down wings with, but I wouldn't go for the beer. But yes, I'm sure you can get Jai Alai, Up Top, or other stuff alone those lines. If the goal is a lively spot to watch a big game, crush some wings and IPAs, you could do a lot worse.

check out **** & bull for pizza and beer or Shakespeare's for a nicer dinner and beer. I haven't been there in a few years but I'm pretty sure they're both still around.

I know a lot of people are fans of **** and Bull, but I'm not. I prefer Mr Beerys if that's tha atmosphere you're looking for.

We land around noon and I plan on going directly to CCB from the airport...I'm aware they have food trucks however will they be there that early on a Thursday? (Looked on the website and most seem to be there later in the day)
So I'm looking for a place to eat lunch in Tampa that's not too far from CCB. Is Datz the place to go? Need to then make the drive down to Sarasota.

    Thanks guys
