I'm heading down this weekend and am looking for a restaurant\gastro since Darwin's on 4th has closed down. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is definitely my favorite spot for food and beer. A lot of people also love Shakespeare's, and if you get lucky, they can have some really interesting stuff on their tap list. The WOB downtown has some decent food also, excellent wings and soft pretzel, although their beer selection is often mediocre.

Yeah Mandeville has become my go-to also. If you know where Darwins on 4th was, Mandeville is right next door. It's more pub style food than the culinary chow that Chef Darwin was slinging, but the quality is still excellent.

I know it's a small hike from Sarasota, but I am on siesta key and 3.14 pi pizza has a solid offering of funky Buddha taps right now. French toast, blue berry cobbler, lemon mirengue and maple bacon pecan porter. Let alone a few others.

Darwin's new restaurant, cevichela, has a decent selection of craft beer and the food is really good.

Calusa brewing is having a big party today, and there are two food trucks there for the festivities. They're also releasing a sour porter, so you it's definitely worth checking out.

Try Darwins new venture, CeviChela Project on Siesta Key.

What a great tap list to run into while on vacation! Lucky you!

Oh I feel lucky this vacation, usually I sustain myself on invasion pale, which I am still doing. That said, I super happy to try some new stuff from breweries I don't get.
