I'm heading to Savannah for a conference in a couple of months and have some extra time. I'm looking for the best places to buy single bottles. I'm hoping to find some bottles & cans of Allagash, Burnt Hickory, Creature Comforts, Monday Night, The Lost Abbey, Sixpoint, and Westbrook. Where would you suggest? Also, any other Georgia or regional breweries you might recommend? I've had a lot from Terrapin and Sweetwater. I might also have time to hit a decent bar (with or without food) at some point. I like a good selection and a good vibe. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
Habersham Beverage has the largest selection. White Whale Craft Ales is a small shop that can have some fun stuff from time to time. There's enough breweries available and both of those places are knowledgeable enough to give you some good recommendations. Right now, Creature doesn't distribute to Savannah and Sixpoint doesn't distribute to GA at all. Two Tides is the new brewery darling in town, but there's also Southbound, Service and Moon River. The Distillery has a good selection of drafts and a fried moon pie that is absolutely delicious. Crystal Beer Parlor has a really good list and food. Almost everywhere in town has local craft on draft. It might not always be rare or hyped, but there will always be something good to drink. And, it's open container in Savannah. You can get your beer to go and drink while you walk to the next spot.
Second going after Two Tides. Very tasty NE style IPAs and Sours. Was lucky enough to find several at Crystal Beer Parlor.
I saw the beer list at the Crystal Beer Parlor and I was blown away by their Allagash selection. I'm ready to go. Thanks for all of the great advice!
I haven't been since Two Tides opened, but, I always hit Coastal Empire Brewing, Crystal Beer Parlor and Moon River Brewpub when I visit. Southbound Brewing and Service Brewing are also pretty good.
I have been hearing really good things about Two Tides but have yet to get up there to try it. That Coastal Empire Coco Pina Gose is one of the most refreshing beers i have ever had, super crushable in this heat down in the south!
Coastal Empire, Southbound, and Service are all really close, with Moon River just a few minutes away. Great for a Saturday afternoon brewery hop. As mentioned Habersham and White Whale are the better bottle shops, the Distillery and Crystal Beer Parlor the best of the bars, but also check out The Bier Haus, a little hidden gem with a solid tap and bottle list.
Everything mentioned above, plus I'll add in some love for Two Tides - very solid IPAs if thats your thing. Habersham has a great selection, but there's also a hidden secret near downtown at a few locations called Broughton Street Market. Two on Broughton Street, one on Bay Street. Neil carries a ton of stuff, and some things that I haven't seen at Habersham. Also, theres a place a little out of the way called Ben's Neighborhood grill that usually has an interesting tap list.
Going to be in Savannah this upcoming Friday-Monday. Anything new to note or go off the suggestions above? Thanks in advance
Largo beverage always had stuff that was long sold out when I lived there. I always enjoyed CO upstairs for a drink or a beer, and the weird food and good beers at Treylor Park.
I was just there. Two Tides is the best brewery there. By far. It is not in downtown, so you will need to drive or ride to the place. Coastal Empire is also good. Southbound and Service are fine, and they make good core beers, but nothing super special. Moon River is always a fun place to have lunch. The beer is inconsistent, but they have gigantic tasting flights and a lot of the stuff is pretty good. Tons of cans and bottles of Georgia and other Southern beer at the Broughton Market, which is right downtown.
