Planning a trip to this wonderful city and looking for hotel recommendations downtown. Also good places to get a nice breakfast. Thanks and cheers!!
Ive never stayed in Savannah but when I pass through on the way to Tampa I always stop at: The Collins Quarter. Coffee and breakfast here. Both are fantastic. Willeys Championship BBQ Back in The Day Bakery
I've stayed at the Hyatt, Planters Inn, Marriott, Hampton Inn, and the Inn at Ellis Square. With the exception of the Marriott Riverfront (too far down for me), I would stay at any of them again. Hyatt is the most convenient, but expensive. Planters Inn is great if you are doing the "romantic trip" with the misses. Ellis Square met our expectations for the price. Hampton Inn is the best of all of them for value, convenience, etc...but for that reason it is always booked up unless you are looking pretty far in advance.
Personally, I like the Marshall House, but I am a suckered for history and historic buildings. It also suppose to be haunted, if that makes a difference.
The ghost tour that stops at bars is fun, although there won't be much good beer. I remember vinnie-van-go-go's being good pizza. Rail Pub is a fun dive with crappy beer. 40oz COOZIES!
I'll second Collins Quarter. Clary's serves up a quality diner-style breakfast, though it gets packed with tourists.
Just got back from there..Collins Quarters was fantastic, but best was Treylor Park for eats..God damn amazing. Get the Chicken pancake tacos, thank me later!
