    Hey,

My family and I will be spending a few days in Savannah near the end of July and then heading to the Folly Beach/Charleston area for a week. Who better than the members of BA to help guide our drinking and dining choices.

I know that we will be visiting Edmund's Oast and the Charles Towne Fermentary and I think we will visit the Butcher and the Bee and possibly Husk.

What other spots are must visits while in the area?
    Is Westbrook worth a visit?
What shelf beers can we easily find to take to the beach?
    Best tacos in town?
Frothy beard looks fun, any good? What about Munkle?

Thanks for any opinions/suggestions. I have had great success in past years asking the local BAs where to go.

Yes, Westbrook is worth a visit for the onsite BA list (if you don't mind dropping a little money on the tick) but they do have weird hours, they've also been crushing it with lagers lately so that might be a good beach option.
Carmen Y Juan in Mt. P has some really good tacos
Munkle is doing great lagers & belgians
    Commonhouse Aleworks > Frothy imo
As for food spots, its Charleston c'mon, make a wrong turn and you'll find a good restaurant.

You probably already know, but there are two Edmund’s Oast locations... the restaurant and the production brewery. Tap lists are different between the two locations. The EO flagship beers will be found at the production brewery. Restaurant has more small batch, one-offs, and lots of high-end guest taps.

I recommend checking out the EO brewery. Plenty of on-site parking, good food, and two large coolers with cans to go for off site consumption. Added bonus for the brewery is that you can walk across the train tracks and hit up Munkle. Please check out Munkle if you like Abbey styles. Its a great location, very welcoming staff, and they do a solid dubbel.

Parking at Charles Towne is a PITA. Consider Ubering.

You also likely already know, but no alcohol on Folly Island beaches. I’ve heard its not strictly enforced, but I’ve never taken the chance either.

For drinks hit the Gin Joint on East Bay St , it’s not far from the market. Best cocktails ever, ever, if you get burned out on beers, these guys are simply the best in the business. It’s super small though. I don’t suppose shrimp and grits are an everyday thing in Ct, so Fleetwood Landing or Hanks Seafood are my favorite.

We go to Charleston in July every now and then, and damn it’s the hottest place on earth, but lots of bars to duck into for a cold whatever.

Just to throw some Savannah recs in: Two Tides Brewing, Crystal Beer Parlor, White Whale Craft Ales, Ordinary Pub (great food, good beer, great cocktails) and The Warehouse on River St. to grab a walkin' around beer.
Bull Street Tacos for bahn mi. Just kidding. Tacos.

Very strange... My fiance and I will be staying in Augusta at the end of June and then we'll be traveling to Myrtle Beach and Charleston as well. Very coincidental

Are there any good spots to check out near Myrtle Beach?

I'd add Service Brewing for their desire to give portion of their revenue to charities that support service men and women and first responders.

Foodwise, here are some good options:
Charleston - Poogan's Porch, Husk, SNOB, Magnolia, Obstinate Daughter (Sullivan's Island)
Savannah - Olde Pink House, Husk

We are less than a week away from our trip.

We have reservations at HUSK, Poogan's Porch, Cru Cafe, Darling's Oyster. Other spots we plan to visit are Lewis BarBQ and EVO for pizza, the Workshop and Callie's Hot Little Biscuit.

Have a solid list of beer spots to hit up. Need to know where there is a good seafood market (should we just go to a Whole Foods?)

    Best Coffee spot?

Any other can't miss spots while we are visiting the (hot) south?

Thanks for all of the input. Can't wait for that low country cooking.

Hominy Grill for a southern breakfast one morning!

You will get lucky in that the weather is cooling way down next week. This week is freaking gross.

Dang! I have been getting breakfast there on my trips down for almost 20 years! :-( It was always so busy but I guess every restaurant has an end.

For coffee shops Kudu Coffee is my personal favorite (bonus: they have beer too!). Make sure you take the time to walk the College of Charleston campus (my alma mater), specifically the Cistern.

In CHS, two coffee shops we like are City Lights, Second State and across from Callie’s is Glazed donuts. Also for a quick breakfast, Cafe Framboise (crepes!) and Caviar and Bananas.

CHS - Jeni’s for ice cream, Kaminskys if you want an obnoxious desert you don’t mind standing in line for

SAV - Leopold’s but there is always a line and Lulus for the desert (and line, lol)

I'm biased, but my sister ownd glazed gourmet doughnuts on King St. They've won a bunch of awards and been written about in several magazines and newspapers, including the NYT. Give them a try!

Tell your sister that the mrs and I love those donuts, not too heavy, not too light and full of flavor. We each ate 3 last time we were in town, lol.
