So I have a predicament. I have a bunch of Oklahoma beers that I'm trying to remove the labels from to seal into a tabletop. The problem is, I don't know how to remove the labels cleanly to keep them intact. Any ideas?
Should slide right off - some will just fall off in the water. No problems with the paper separating or tearing up if they come off real nice. Only ones I have an issue with are labels that have some sort of clear film over them (Dark Horse, Short's are a few) or metallic flake ones (3F's labels don't work...). but most the rest are fine. If they are more like stickers, they just peel off nicely but slowly from a corner. Since I keep the bottles for homebrew, I will just scrub off residual glue on the bottles and let them sit and dry. I'll use the top of the bottle as a place to balance and dry the labels.
@Grayson14, here is a link to the results of a search of this forum. I used "label removal" and found these threads because this is a regular topic here. You might find more with other search words, but this should give you a lot of ideas. Enjoy your reading. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/search/30575174/?q=label+removal&o=date&c[node]=42
I have used B-brite...or (PBW)...used for cleaning homebrew equipment. But, basically, the oxyclean that gopens44 said is basically the same thing.... sometimes inks run with this method, depending on the label. I've also tried Oenophilia Label Lift. They work pretty good, they are fairly expensive, but after you burnish them on (with back side of a spoon) and le tit sit for a while, it pulls it off fairly well. One good thing about the label removers from Oenophilia, is that it kinda laminates the label at the same time. Mostly just use B-brite, which you can get at any homebrew store, and mix up a huge bucket and put all the bottles in at once. Some, will slide right off, others you have to be fairly careful when pulling them off.
