To minimize the risk of being called a douche, I'll be vague. I guess my point was this kind of event would only sell out in minutes for that price in cities with the type of people that would spend that kind of money for that kind of event. And DC is one of those cities. Good job, SAVOR!

So you're saying it's a good way to suck up to and schmooze with the big wigs? Perfect if you're looking for a job in the industry? Ah, now I understand better. Thanks.

Not necessarily the best way to go about getting a job in the industry. But there are plenty of people out there that want to rub elbows with the well known faces of the industry. DFH will have the longest line solely because Sam is there. That kind of stuff is a major draw to some.

I am pretty sure the cost of the event is also correlated to the cost to rent the facility, it's not for everyone, but this shit sells out fast (not in NY) so I am they must be doing something right in DC. I am hoping to go this year, I've never been and have wanted to go for a while. I agree the events around town are awesome, IMO far better than DC beer week.

I won tickets to attend in NY this past year and it was easily the best beer fest I have been to. No lines anywhere, amazing rartities from a lot of the breweries, more formal atmosphere (which I enjoy), really good food, (although it did run out quickly) and unlike many beer fests today, the brewmasters for most of the breweries were in attendence pouring their beers. Adds to the experience when Tomme Arthur, Patrick Rue, Sam Calgione, Rob Todd, etc. are pouring your beers and willing to interact with their customers.

Was planning on buying tickets to go in DC this year, but sadly I already have vacation plans then. I really think this event is worth the price tag.

I went last year and it was great to try many beers that are out of the distribution area. The pours were also some incredible offerings; all limited beers. The issue I had with Savor was that the intended pairing rarely happened as food often was unavailable when you did get your pour.

I've never attended, but have known plenty who have. Savor stands out a bit in that as mentioned it's not an informal beer festival. As many repeat people have told me, the crowd consists of beer and food lovers, and it's slightly more formal, less crowded, with many of the actually brewer reps and employees handling the service.

I don't do typical beer festivals cause they are filled with volunteers who know nothing about the product or what they are serving, pouring me the wrong "stuff", and drunks who for 35-40 bucks are only there so they can just get hammered drinking everything in site. Savor isn't like that as one person told me.

Personally festivals are a fun idea, but I prefer enjoying a beer by myself, but understand it offers a great opportunity sometimes to try things I may not get a chance at. The building museum is also one of the coolest venues in the city for a gathering like this. Every Christmas someone has a holiday party in that venue with all the white table cloths out and such. I really want to know what organization that is so I can go work for them and get in on that gig

For 30-40 bucks I'd rather just buy the beer I want.

Can we just agree you feel guilty about the snap spelling judgement you made and move on? You're on Beeradvocate talking about sours, $135 beer events and ***** devers. Those blue collar roots aren't showing.

I view attending Savor as an event. It has cost 135 or so previously, but this is not something I do daily. Many other events, such as concerts and sporting events, are not cheap either. Yes some baseball games can be 15-20 a ticket, and I'm sure Wizards tickets in DC don't have super high prices these days.

If you view it as "a meal" then yes, the whole thing is expensive. But (to me) it's a once a year experience.

I've never attended one of these Savor events but I pulled the trigger on tickets for this one. A friend was able to get tickets through the pre-sale and I was a bit surprised at how quickly most of the "Salons" sold out. It wasn't anywhere near our 1st choice but we finally got GA tickets plus the Dessert from the Barrel salon. Cigar City and Hardywood will be presenting, so it should be quite good and I'm really looking forward to the event.

I'm hoping to get my preferred salon tomorrow but it doesn't sound too good. Will settle for GA if needed

The Hydra Cuvee collab between Flying Dog (Gonzo) and FW (Wookey Jack) sounds interesting. Hope this somehow makes it to FD's taps as I'll be in Frederick that weekend but can't make it down to Savor.

Just got my tickets for Friday night. Going to the Craft Beer & Doughnuts salon. Bringing the wife, that's pretty much the only one that caught her eye.

    Reeaaaally looking forward to this.

How do people go to the Salon's and partake in regular tasting? Usually I'm worn out as is.

I've never understood this either. Other than say the salons that are at 6:30 so you get in earlier. I really don't want to take time away from the main event. Didn't the last two years I went in dc, and no salons this year either.
