Has anyone been to the Savor in DC in the past? It looks pretty cool, I heard it's going to be in NYC this year, and was looking to see if anyone had been to this in the past.

    Cheers!

SAVOR IS AWESOME!! I would totally recommend it. Also, add on a salon to get an even more interactive experience. The salons are special events that take place before and during the main event. I attended the Umami tasting, hosted by Charlie Papazian and it was remarkable!
    Cheers

went last year and had a great time. however it was cheaper. I think ~$118 or so. Did the Surly Salon before hand, the food was great and the beer was awesome. The venue was even better there. Just love that building. Anyways I wouldn't do it for what they are charging this year.

Brooklyn = awesome. I love that place. Wish I could be there for this, but that is the kick off of Rochester Beer Week and the 15th is the date for my favorite beer fest in the world...the Real Beer Expo. Sometime, you got to make it up for that event brother. You would love it.

I'm contemplating making the trip. $170 is steep compared to last year, along w/ the added expense of hotel and train/bus.

But, yesterday I saw that FFF is bringing Zombie Dust, and that made the $ suddenly seem more bearable.

Already got my alarm set to buy two of the "VIP" ticket packages the second I can! I have high hopes for the food menu being that it's in NYC for cripes sake.

Beer list looks really great this year, but I'll just be getting back from France on the 13th so I am out.

I also can't believe this is now $170/ticket....last time I went in 2010 tickets were $95 and it was pushing it then. Not sure why they feel the need to jack up prices every single year.

If it's like the previous DC versions it is a very fun event, but probably wasn't worth $95 to me, let alone $170. The food is good but not outstanding, and some of it runs out.

I'm hoping that like previous years in DC, the week leading up to it has outstanding events at different bars with the brewers in town...that was usually more exciting to DC beer geeks than SAVOR itself. It became an unofficial DC beer week that was better than the official DC beer week.

No way I'm spending $170 on three hours of beer/food, but I'm seriously hoping to see Shorts, FFF, others around NYC in the week leading up to the event.

Yeah, me too. In past years in DC FFF did multiple tastings and dinner pairings in town the week before, and Shorts did a tap takeover. Hoping NY gets similar treatment from the out of town breweries!

hey jason... my old man and are I thinking about going up for Savor, or at least that weekend, but the price is a little ridiculous compared to what it's been in DC the last few years. We'll hit up a Mets game especially because I just found out FOREIGNER is playing after the game that Friday night. Hope to see you up there.

I went to Savor last year for the first time in Washington DC; it was around $125/ticket.

This year it's coming to NYC for the first time at a price of $170

    That's quite an increase.

I can't help but feel this is over-the-top for a beer festival.

Is anyone who's been in the past going or passing because of this?
