I am headed to Mooresville, NC today from Raleigh. Would it be worth my time to drive into SC on my way home to look for Westbrook or anything else I can't get in NC? If so, where would be my best bet.
I will say that it's easy access. Right across state line is frugal mcdougals in rock hill. Probably have Westbrook and coast well represented. If they have a growler, check for riverdog. I don't know if frothy beard makes it upstate, but I would check fpr it also..
Was just at fruegals yesterday. The westbrook ipa was dated 7/4 and taste like licking hop pellets....in a good way. While super fresh, itwouldnt he worth the 45 min down, 45 minute trip back for me. The only bottle the had was the skoons ballistic Baltic porter which again wouldn't be worth the trip to me. The growler station didn't have anything special. Grapevine which is 5 more minutes down the road will have better options but that's a 2 hour round trip from mooresville. Might be able to find some westbrook saisons. Don't expect to find any gose, cause they ain't no mores-a. Grapevines growler station should have a couple good treats, but the will be premium priced.
Charleston beer exchange ships. Would probably be cheaper than driving too. Fantastic beer city if you have s day r two though
I was at Frugal's yesterday. Only Westbrook bombers they had was Cap'n Skoons. No Coast. Grapevine in Baxter Village had both Westbrook Saisons, Cap'n Skoons and the Coast Kolsch, but that's it. Southern Spirits on 521 had the same WB as Grapevine, but no Coast.
It's rare to get Coast up here near NC during the summer months. They keep most of their product in and around Charleston during tourist season.
