A friend of mine just sent me the facebook page for the place. Anybody have any insight or stopped by yet? Looks like it could be a great alternative for that area.... http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/32906
This is the first I've heard of them, but they have a lot of Facebook likes, including from a few local brewers. I've thought for awhile that Littleton is one of several towns in New Hampshire that seems like it could support a solid local brewery/brewpub. Along with Peterborough, Dover (coming soon), Concord and a handful of others (including another brewpub or two in Manchester), it seems like the sort of thing that locals and visitors would get behind. Schilling looks like it could be just the place--from the photos on their FB page, the beer and the space look very promising. I don't know how I haven't heard of this place before, but it's making me really want to take a trip up to my ancestral home of Littleton. It could also be a great stop on the way up to Hill Farmstead.
First I have heard about it too, and know quite a few people up that way. I will have to check it out on my next trip to VT or after skiing cannon sometime this winter. From the pictures it looks like they have a pretty good "guest taplist" too.
The wife and I checked this place out after chopping our Christmas tree down at Finnegans' in Bethlehem. This brewpub is set down off the main road in what seemed to be a happen'n downtown Littleton (nicely decorated too). Schilling Beer Co is primarily a pizza place but does serve other entrees. Its a small cozy place centered around their beautiful brick oven. The "kitchen" is very open with several people pounding away at dough making pizzas at a rapid pace. The menu is simple with about 4-5 different topped pizzas and a calzone version of it. I would call them personal sized others may not. They had about 6 of their own beers on tap as well as quite a few guest taps. I caught a quick glimpse of the board with the guest taps (the in house beers are on the menu) and saw green flash...damn that's all I can remember. I had two beers: Kamarade a Baltic Porter and a Belgian Brown session ale. Kamarade was delicious with a bone white head and a slight roastiness with a bit of chocolate. This beer was very clean finishing and at 8%ABV hid the alcohol tremendously. The Belgian Brown was refreshing as well but I expected a little more character from the yeast, it too finished very clean. We'll definitely check this place out when we are in the area again which may not be until next Thanksgiving weekend. Cheers!
All New England BAs and visitors should be checking this place out ... just popped in for a late lunch on Friday. Great beers all around, food was amazing IMO.
I went a couple weeks, great place - especially in the summer when you can sit on the deck with a great view, right on the river. Beers are definitely above average - pretty much all Belgian and German style. Food was great too - we had pretzels and mustard & beer cheese plus a couple tasty pizzas.
I stopped in after a day at Jay Peak and thought it was very good. Had a pizza and a few beers could have stayed much longer. Great atmosphere, good beer and food and easy on and off 93.
I'd echo the responses on here. Went earlier this summer and the whole experience was awesome. Great eclectic beers, great food and very friendly staff. Location is very cool / unique - old mill building right on the water.
