Schlafly - Grapefruit IPA

    Below is the label from an upcoming new year round offering from Schlafly Brewing out of St. Louis, Missouri. The Grapefruit IPA will clock in at 40ibu and 5%abv and will come packaged in 12oz bottles. Knowing how well Schlafly does IPAs, I'm really looking forward to this beer. No word on when it will hit shelves.

    I am so pumped for this to be an all year offering! I have had this at the taproom as a one off and it is delicious! I am happy to hear they plan to bottle it.

    Only the hundredth GF IPA out there but...it IS Schlafly...

    Really 100's up in MA? Only GF variety IPA I see on any store shelves down here in MD is GF Sculpin.

    I'm thinking its the same recipe grapefruit IPA they've have had at the bottleworks and tap room lately. If so, its pretty tasty stuff

    It has a large grapefruit presence, but isn't overly sweet like Sculpin. It is more dry and hoppy. Quite good.

    Yep...big grapefruit punch in the mouth upfront and then a super dry hoppy finish...wonderful brew!

    A bit more info was released on the brewing process....it's being brewed with Grapefruit puree produced by a company in Oregon and will be 100% fruit (rind, pulp and all....no extracts). The base IPA is also being brewed with Citra, Cascade and Chinook and it will be dry-hopped with Citra. Should start seeing it out for distro (outside St. Louis) in January.

    This is already out there in CR/IC area. 12/7 bottling date I wanna say. I liked it--definitely a better value than GF Sculpin and holds up well against it. I can tell there's citra in there too.
