If you like Tasmanian, you will LOVE their current special release American IPA - I'm enjoying my first one of a case that was brought up from St. Louis by my son-in-law today > so fresh, hoppy, & incredibly balanced. I think it is more available than Tasmanian - seek it out.

They are a very solid brewery. Tasmanian IPA and American IPA are really great and probably my favorite offerings from them.

Had my first AIPA at Pazzo's in Lexington last spring - great place with awesome selection!

I'm a local but a strong supporter of the brewery. I go the the downtown Tap Room often and go to their Hop in the City festival every year. Tasmanian and American IPAs are terrific and tasty. And, their Pumpkin Ale is the best I've ever had, and I've had a few. The Pale Ale and Dry-hopped APA are rock solid. If you could visit their STL locations, you'd be able to try some very unique "one-offs" that more often than not, are tasty. The Coffee Stout has a local STL coffee on board is has some of the best coffee flavor I've ever had as well. If they could put out a regular DIPA that was good, I'd think many, including me, would start putting their opinion of this brewery in the top tier of regional breweries.

It's hard to fault any brewery that puts out a solid range of beers and still stay at the $7.99 6er price.Cheers and keep up the good work Schafly. Also the brewpub sells some the best damn mussels anywhere..

Good not great. They put out a lot of good beers, but I think they're lacking in any standout beers. They tend to play it safe, so that may be the issue. I'd like to see them take more risks.

Solid is the best word for them.

They're out of this GD world. Incredible. The second best I've ever had.

I agree. This beer was actually one of my first true "wow" IPAs, possibly due to the fact that I wasn't expecting it to blow me away in the first place. In addition to that, I can honestly say that Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale was the beer that pulled me into the craft world!

I have only had a few of their beers. Bourbon Imperial Stout and Bourbon Barrel Ale were great, but I did not care for the Barleywine.

That was exactly how I felt about them for a couple years. Had a soft spot as they were semi-local, reasonably priced and among the beers that I got into craft with. But now I think they are among the best staple/session beers and a very good lineup of seasonals. Maybe a risky beer or two wouldn't hurt, but I like them for their quality takes on traditional styles.

Schlafly Single Malt was extremely underrated IMO, but their rotating IPAs and Session IPA are staples for me. Irish Stout now. American Brown cans in the fridge for my brother-in-law. Schwarbier for me in the summer. I'd love to see their take on an American (or at least unoaked) barleywine.

As for Urban Chestnut, they have a weird and small lineup outside of their traditional (mostly lager) lineup, but I do buy their IIPA pretty frequently. No shortage of great beer around here with those two, 2nd Shift, Perennial, and 4 Hands. And as of last year, Side Project (Barrel-only? Perennial side project) and Alpha Brewing. Alpha's American Barleywine is great, and I really hope things work out for them.

They just started making noise in the Louisville market in the last few years. The response here has been building and with most BA's and they now enjoy a very good reputation, however they really havent acheived stardom here yet. The Tasmanian and the Dry-Hopped are the ones here that have hit a note with the locals. I personally love their brews and wish them continued sucess.

My friends who had been to the brewery raved about their beers but when I went I was very underwhelmed. I had to laugh when you said they are not at the same level as New Belgium because I find both to be equally average. I loved the A-IPA when it first came out but I didn't care for it this year.

I had a really good Cuban sandwich there. Definitely a nice space to eat and drink.

I went to a beer and food pairing event that they were hosting earlier this year and enjoyed everything. There Pumpkin Ale, Dry Hopped APA, and Quad were fantastic.

I feel lucky to have an awesome brewery at each end of my state - Boulevard and Schlafly

    Their stuff is always available.

TIPA is one of the best IPAs made in the Midwest if you ask me. Love that beer!
