I had Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale this year and it didn't taste the same as it did a few years ago to me. It tasted boozier than I remember it. I remember the first time I tried it out my first reaction was: "OMG, this is so good!". Then this year I had it and I kept on tasting alcohol and the flavor wasn't as pronounced to me.

    Am I going crazy?

Going crazy? No. But think about this. How many beers have you had between this year and the first time you tried it? How many other pumpkin beers have you tried since then?

It's quite possible you are different now than you were then. (It's even possible that you had something different to eat the day you tried it the first time than you had this year when you tried it again.) Similarly, while it is quite likely that the Schlafly recipe hasn't changed but, as with all agricultural products, there can be year to year variation.

I've noticed a difference between having it on tap at the brewery and bottled. On tap there was more spice (and thus muting the actual pumpkin) flavors. I haven't noticed a year-to-year difference, however, although as the above post mentioned my own tastes have changed and the "OMG" factor has worn off slightly (although it's still my favorite pumpkin beer). Also, if you just had it the beer could have been 5 months old by now and the spice could have faded a bit.

I like that beer with a little age on it actually...
