I just got my first 6er of tipa from schlafly out of stl louis. this was one of the first ipa's that i reviewed a couple years ago, and it changed the way i thought of ipa's. this year's offering is top-notch...still full of that mango-tangerine hoppiness, but it is creamier, thicker, and smoother than i remember...almost like a hop smoothie. if you have never sampled this brew, please do so this fall...you are welcome!

I recently got a sixer for the first time, and I agree it's a damn fine beer- glad I caved in to the peer pressure . In fact, I was just wondering what to open...

You should put this info into the actual rating of the beer vs. opening up a thread. More people will see it.

Yes, it is a good IPA, though it will never get much hype since you don't have to drive to some obscure place to get it

I would have to drive to an obscure place to get some since it isn't in WI.

I would imagine more people peruse the beer talk forum and see this thread, versus seeing the rating of this beer by searching for it.

    Take me for example.

AIPA is pretty good also, in case you haven't had it

Way beyond solid. A top tier IPA. Among the best IMO.

TIPA is a beer that I always look forward to.

4 Hands Resurrected is keeping me from drinking as much of it this year though.

I tried this for the first time this year a few weeks ago and was blown away, I posted about it on the "WOW!" beer thread because it was that good for me. Between this and their pumpkin, late summer/fall is a very solid season for them. I haven't ventured into their stouts yet but I would hope they're up to par.

Part of what makes TIPA great is the Galaxy hops. One of my favorite non-double IPA's.

And their Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout is fantastic.

Since Heady, Pliny, ZD, and Abner all suck and what not? I hate comments like these. TIPA is solid but to reach an entire market you're going to have to compromise at least a little of your product. I commend small breweries for sticking to their products reliability and word of mouth.

Can't speak for Abner but the other 3 are definitely overrated.

I'll give you Zombie, but as far as the others I'd like to know what you think is better in the IPA or DIPA category?

Agreed on the Tasmanian - recommended by 'beer guy' at Maro Bros in NJ - said he bought a case ("and I never buy cases"). It's a shame it's limited release, but like other limited brews (e.g. Nugget Nectar) it gives us something to look forward to . . . and they're spaced out through the year.
