Anyone know where to find Schmidt bottles and on tap? Been looking for a while with no luck. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!
I haven't seen it on tap since Sobaski's in South Saint Paul closed. Enjoyed a bottle at the AMF lanes over by Heritage Liquor a year or so back (and see 30-packs often enough...), so I'll keep my eyes peeled knowing someone's lookin' .
White bear bar had it in bottles a few years ago anyway. Schmidt is a tough one to find on tap. I see it a lot in bottles/cans in bars around NW WI, but I dont recall ever seeing in on tap. Have seen Blatz a couple times at some legions though!
I've had it once in tap in the metro, you know, to tick it, and that was at williams in uptown several years ago. I remember thinking $8 for a tall was like stealing...
617 may have bottles or cans? In the past five years I've been visiting it they haven't had it on tap (on my last visit they had Salvator and Tallgrass IPA, so their 'dive bar' credit is officially shot ).
It was the only place we could try to sneak into in high school, all the parents hung out at the WBB,Triangle, Little, Clover. I think everyone though it was too "classy."
Speaking of downtown WBLK, Houlihans may have it(the dive, not the chain joint). I know at the very least they always have Hamms on tap, so not a bad consolation. Ive hit it up a few times after enjoying some more upscale offerings across the street at Wash. Square.
Would like to do a side by side tasting with Schmidt and Hamms on tap. Think I would prefer Hamms. Schmidt seems to have more of an unpleasant bite to it these days...(well last time I had it which was about a year ago).
Lets have a sit-down at Obb's then! We can wash our mouths out with Two Hearted afterwards. (hmmm,I don't know if they have Schmidt though)
Might be worth mentioning that Gordie's Place has Schmidt in cans (I asked for Special Ex, but no dice). Obb's really should have some of these old St. Paul beers!
Yeah exactly....stopped at a place after work the other day that has 2 for 1 and was in the mood for macro lager....went with Leinie Original and it tasted great....finished with a 2 for 1 of Two Hearted....4. 50 for 2 Leinie....5.50 for two 2-hearted....kind of dumb not going 2-hearted route to start but that is how I roll as they say....
Gordie's won't be open for a while: http://www.kare11.com/news/article/...hes-through-Little-Canada-bar-caught-on-tape-
I definitely remember the 2nd one as well. Schmidt was my high school beer. Haven't had one in probably 20 years or more. Didn't know they still made it.
