Science is Cool LIF - Day 1

don't knock us non-scientists. we may not look at this stuff everyday, but it is amazing at what the mind can retain from back in the day. i was pretty surprised that i recognized yesterday's image but things like that sort of stick out in your memory.

 

In fairness to the radiologists, you probably misled them into believing that there was some scientiific significance to the image. I'm impressed that 14 people could articulate why it is scientifically significant that there are mri images of people having sex. It seems about as useful as conducting the studies which have found that attractive women get better tips, or little boys like to play with trucks.

 

It shows that the woman's kidneys don't drop down and lend a helping hand.

Edit: My answer was something like, 'That's a penis. MRI of people doing the nasty.'

 

Personally, I had seen this years ago elsewhere on the web. I'm no amateur radiologist.

 

Your right I presented it to them as "what's the scientific significance of this MRI". The more interesting discussion came when trying to explain what it was for

 

Hm, I was trying to figure out why the image was significant since we were supposed to explain its significance. Here's hoping the next image has something to do with the viscosity of ketchup or something equally hilariously fascinating.

 

Knew what it was, but I found no significance and sort of pondered over that and then forgot to answer.
Oops and oh well.

 

well now it makes sense as to why my wife and I were confused. We were thinking parts of it looked like looked like both male and female. Ended up taking a wild stab at generic "cancer".

I guess this is what happens when scientist with weird fetishes get funding.

 

The guy won an Ig Nobel Prize for it, which is the science pseudo-equivalent of the Razzies or the Darwin Awards. In the unlikely event that my work in the field of high school Physics does not land me a Nobel Prize, I'd take an Ig Nobel as a consolation and display it proudly.

 

I knew I was overthinking things when at one point my guess was "Hermaphrodite Turkey"

 

I like today's challenge. Makes me happy.

 

There are many things I would like to say in response to today's challenge, but each would probably be giving a hint, so I will just have to say that I enjoyed this image. Good way to start a Monday!

 

If we are keeping with a theme then this gotta be fireflies having sex in jars....hopefully I won't be disqualified for this....

 

Is it like one of those carnival love tests? The red ones are 'hot to trot', and the blue ones are the fireflies getting yelled at by their spouses?

 

Dang early friday flight....I'm pretty sure I've gotten everyone right that I've answered.

 

The MRI of the people having sex stumped me! I asked a friend of mine if he knew what the image was of, but he was confused and thought it was one of those things where you are meant to see some blurry picture. This is what he told me:

" That looks like 19th century art. I see a man and a woman and a beaver!!!! "
