I keep hearing great things about Scofflaw brewing in Atlanta so I thought since I will be spending the weekend in the Atlanta area (Lilburn) does anyone know where I can pick some up? Preferably as close to Lilburn as possible. Thank you!

Awesome. Thanks for your response. I wasn't sure if it was brewery only or not. I haven't been up to Atlanta in a few months and it hasn't been on my radar long.

Basement and Double Jeopardy are now in cans. Most good retailers have them.

Good news! I was specifically looking for Double Jeopardy but anything from them would be nice. For those who are more familiar with the Atlanta area, what bottle shop would be the closest to Lilburn that might have Scofflaw? If I remember correctly, Ale Yeah isn't too far from there.

The cans are not even close to the draft. Also Basement hardly lasts a week. I drain poured mine. Don't waste your time. Look for their beer on draft though.

Well that's just shitty. I wonder what the issue is? Thanks for the heads up.

Was just down in Atlanta this weekend and the friends I was staying with had some Scofflaw waiting for us. Quite impressed for a new brewery. Granted I've never had it on draft to compare, but I thought the cans were quite good. They were fairly fresh, but they weren't 'less than a week' fresh.

If the draft is heads-and-shoulders better than the cans... holy cow.

I picked up a sixer of both Basement and Double Jeopardy while I was up in Atlanta over the weekend. Both were quite good IMO.

I enjoyed both as well. Lots of particulate in the dj cans though. Reminded me when Jai alai had the same problem a few years ago. Basement is great.

The cans I bought weren't quite on that level. I have some pics of Jai Alai I took around that time period that looked like straight soup! lol

Agreed. I bought a sixer of each. Awful. I took several sips trying to like it. Drain poured. Haven't had draft but I won't be seeking their beers out if this is all they have to offer, especially their first canning and offering to a wide public audience.

I'm wondering if you guys got an infected batch or something? Granted I haven't tried Scofflaw on tap, but I really enjoyed both of them in cans. I even did a side-by-side with a few friends with Basement and Tropicalia and all we all agreed they taste very similar. Definitely NOT drain pours (my sixers that is).

i think some people are just a little more picky on their beers. I have now had the Basement and Double J over a course of 2-3 weeks. no change in their taste. But i have notice that liquor stores place them in the main floor warm. maybe that is affecting the beer?

'Warm' is subjective. If the store is around 70-74 degrees, it's fine. 85-90 would be a concern.

I have heard a ton of local reports of the cans tasting much sweeter and more metallic than draft. I don't care for IPAs so I can't confirm myself, but there's enough discussion about it that I tend to believe it's possible.

I am definitely not discounting people's perspections. If there's a metallic taste, that tells me that something is probably off in the beer. i will make this comment though
I don't know if the beer is pasteurized, If a beer isn't pasteurized especially a craft beer, then yes even warm flavors can affect a beer. This is a difference between macro(most are pasteurized) and micro beers being able to sit on a liquor store's floor for a longer time at room temp without it affecting the beer's taste.

We all know this...however, Scofflaw cans are selling out within a few days of delivery everywhere, few retailers can keep them in stock. Now if they sat a few weeks it might be something to consider, but two days max isn't going to do anything to do the beer.

I've had Basement on draft a number of times, and the cans definitely fall short . I'll revisit in a month or two in hopes that they've worked the kinks out.

Hayden34 . I revise my previous statement. I gave a friend a Double Jeopardy and they said it was really funky

I had some basement in cans a couple of weeks ago and thought it tasted good. If there are some quality issues with these early cans (which I don't dispute), I have no doubt they get that figured out quickly. Really enjoying everything I've had from them.
