    Hello All

Next month we'll be driving a route through Scotland that goes something like this:

    Edinburgh>Inverness>Oban>Isle of Mull>Kennacraig>Isle of Islay>Lancaster (England)

Any tips for pubs along the way that would be worth dropping into for a pint and hearty feed?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated too, please!

    Cheers, Clint.

If you're looking for Edinburgh pubs that specialise in really good food and beer then try the following:

Scran and Scallie (Truly the best pub food in Edinburgh & decent beer but you may need to book a table), Stockbridge
    The Cambridge Bar, Young Street
    Hollyrod 9a, Hollyrood 9a Street
    Noble Bar, Leith

In Inverness the obvious choice for me is The Castle Terrace on 1 View Terrace. The restaurant is upstairs but you can order anything you want from the pub and they'll bring it up to you.

You will struggle a bit in Oban to find something of a similar quality but The Lorne isn't bad. Food is better than the beer though.

Mull (make sure you visit my ancestral home at Duart Castle ) is far trickier but The Bellachroy Hotel in Dervaig is tops in my books.

    Hope this helps Clint.

There are absolutely loads in Edinburgh, my favourites are,

    The Guilford Arms,
    Café Royal,
    Standing Order,
    Hollyrood no. 9a,
    Brewdog.

Not much in Mull, but MacGochan in Tobermory has a nice selection of Isle of Mull Brewery beers.

In Oban, there is the Lorne Bar, had Bitter n Twisted and Schiehallion when I was in there 6 weeks ago, Cuan Mor and The Corryvreckan.

Not much, but something to be getting on with.

Make sure you also take in some whisky on Islay! Oban 14 is a decent dram too.

That's some great info, thanks a heap Zimbo and Kozel!!

And don't worry CwrwAmByth, we're heading to Islay first and foremost for its whisky!

Hey, no worries man. Always happy to point a fellow beer fan in the right direction. Actually heading to Edinburgh tomorrow as the festival is on and Mrs. Kozel (who is also a beer fan) goes back to work after her summer break. If we find anything off the beaten track, I'll post on here, though the weather is supposed to be dreadful, so we'll probably stick to what we know and like.
