    Hello,
Taking a quick trip with my son to the Frazetta museum then up towards Scranton, so I’m not really looking for brewery reco’s but more for quality bottle shops or distributors? I’m looking to stock up on some new stuff that I can’t get on Long Island. (Great Lakes, my beloved PU in cans hopefully) and any other regional favs anyone is willing to share. Haven’t left NY in quite sometime now ! Any places with a good selection would be appreciated. I’ve heard the “buy rite” chain is a good place for the PU cans ? Any advice is welcome.
    TY in advance. Jefff

The Wegmans grocery chain has a very good selection. I have visited both the Dixon City and Wilkes-Barre location. I find the latter has fresher beer. On a side note, I am a huge fan of Frank Frazetta and had the opportunity to meet him at the Stroudsburg museum before he passed.

Wegmans probably is your best bet from a price standpoint. Sabatini’s in Exeter which isn’t too far from Scranton has a massive selection. Wallenpaupack Brewing does a variety of styles well and can be easily found in stores if you are looking for something local. New Trail is a good NEIPA option.

If you did decide to swing by a brewery, Breaker Brewing has locations in Wilkes Barre and Archbald, and has decent food. Last Minute Brewing in Scott Township really does hazy IPAs well.

WOW ! That’s very cool-TY for sharing that. I’m a huge fan of comic art which are his beginnings (as you probably know) so, I am much more familiar with that process than I am with oil on canvas-etc.
Anytime I can see “One of a kind” original artwork in person, it fascinates me though !
I will check out “Wegmans” TY - is buy rite (NJ only ?) even worth seeking out ? I would really love to get my PU in cans.
    TY to all that replied.

"Buy Rite" in New Jersey is not really a "chain" but an advertising co-op with stores individually-owned and operated (no entity can own more than 2 off-premises licenses in NJ). As such the stores are not the same size and do not have similar inventories. As for beer selection and freshness, etc., some are great, others are horrible. The fine print in their ads used to explain it better:
Nowadays, the huge ads listing dozens of locations just say that prices and inventories vary. Then what's the point of the ad if you might go to a store that doesn't carry an advertised item or sell it for the advertised price?

So, since Pilsner Urquell is distributed by Molson Coors houses in NJ, ANY liquor stock can order and stock it (it is amazing that so few do).

This is usually the case for all NJ stores that share a common name - for some they are purchasing (primarily for wine and liquor as I understand it)/advertising co-operatives, some just license the name of a grocery chain and, with Wegmans, the stores are individually-owned by members of extended Wegman family not the corporation itself.

My wife is from near there, but the only place I really know of is Sabatinis pizza in Exeter. However, it’s one of the better bottle shops I’ve ever been to, and the pizza is great too, so it’s well worth the 20-30 minute trip.

    Many thanks !
I’m traveling from LI to PA, (through Your state of course) any suggestions as to where I might obtain the freshest source of PU cans ? I get them reasonably fresh here, in bottles-12 pks are now in newer/sturdier cardboard, no difference otherwise. Cans on the other hand are a different story! I’ve had them a few times, but not often enough ! TY

Highly, highly recommend Loading Dock Bar and Grill in Dunmore (minutes from Scranton). Easy on, easy off the interstate, good food, always solid tap list, and pretty sizable beer cooler of to-go options that you may not be able to get up your way. They keep their Untappd page updated so you can see for yourself. Cheers!

Are Urquell cans really no longer in stores on Long Island? It has been a long time since I saw any, but I’m usually not looking for them. You would have loved the lunch boxes with retro cans. On the art side-topic, I also enjoy your user name Kirby reference.

Brewski's in East Stroudsburg, and Penn Stroud Beverage in Stroudsburg. About 2 miles from the museum. Brewski's usually gets Other Half distribution cans (but at an extreme markup), and they have a good knowledge and selection after their recent new ownership and build out. Frazetta's Costume shop is also a few doors down from here. Owned by his kids.

Penn Stroud is small and limited selection, but if you catch them on the right day you can get lucky. The owner is a beer nerd.

Mt. Pocono Beverage actually has a good selection of stuff, but all of their stock is room temp, mostly shelf turds. But it may be worth a stop enroute to Scranton and is fairly close to 380.

Coming from LI, Gary's in Wayne NJ a really good spot. EQ, Carton, Kane, Other Half, Grimm, Icarus, basically every NJ brewery in the distribution chain.

Many thanks to all, I appreciate all the suggestions.
@zid - no PU cans on LI, I have tried to order it many times from different places, last time I had a can was when I bought the lunchbox! I’m a huge Kirby & EC comics fan (comic art in general) don’t know if you’re into it but the society of illustrators has a show going on. https://societyillustrators.org/event/comicssale/

Don't know about Scranton beers but check-out Cartoonist Kayfabe on YouTube. They're 2 sometimes 3 pro comic artist in Pittsburgh who do walkthroughs on comics obscure and mainstream. They're huge Kirby fans and they just did issue #1 of The Demon this week.
