Screech Owl Brewing is formally named Screech Owl Brewing and Spent Grain Cafe and is located in Bruecton Mills, WV. This place is a bit off the beaten track - like much of WV - but is worth the trip. We were out poking around without a real plan and Googled "breweries near me" as I often do and saw that this was only about 20 miles away.... so we were off. We swung into the parking lot just as the doors were opening for the morning (Saturday at 11:30am). I was immediately followed into this lot (did I mention it was in the middle of nowhere) by 4 additional cars. We were VERY warmly greeted by some of the friendliest staff I've encountered in recent memory. The beers were good and I sampled all 7 on tap. I had a couple more and took a small growler to go for my collection. I was only disappointed that I'd eaten breakfast just before going because I couldn't eat lunch - and they had numerous offerings that I will go back to try. But I will probably miss the gumbo special that looked fabulous. This place was a hidden gem and is work the effort if you find yourself in the eastern panhandle at some point.
