Nope, not at all. One of my favorites. Glad people are passing on it because for awhile there, frankly, I was tired of it being out of stock periodically.

It's certainly overpriced for what it is, and I'm pretty confused about the pricing. However, it's one of the few beers I've had after reading the forums here that has actually lived up to the hype. It reminds me of Alpha King somewhat (haven't had AK in a couple years though, so I could be misremembering), and is a really solid West Coast IPA overall.

For what it's worth, I picked a 6-pack up at Jewel (the local grocery chain around here), and somehow they had it for $8.99. I wasn't even looking to buy beer, but at almost half the price I've seen it elsewhere ($15.99), I couldn't say no. And it was definitely worth it.

Not overated, just overpriced... On the other end of the spectrum, I'd pay a lot more than 9 bucks it costs for V.A.S.

When you first become a little beer snobby, you only drink all the world class IPA's. When you become 100% snob perfection, all the world class IPA's are garbage.

$18 for a sixer of most beers is too much. If you can get fresh Sculpin on tap, it is pretty awesome. I do not think it is over-rated if you can get it fresh.

I bet if you searched for terms like 'overrated', overhyped', and 'overpriced' in this very forum you would find a plethora of beers that other people have had the same epiphany about. There are many beers like this.

I first thought Sculpin was overrated but I recently pick up a canned sixer and I improved my rating on my beer list. It is a well made IPA, I like it! Cheers!

Thought so the first time I had it. And the next. I think there are a lot of more flavorful IPAs at a better price. Flower Power comes to mind.

Bought a six pack of cans yesterday. Absolutely delicious at about six weeks old. A bit pricey, for sure, but still about a buck cheaper than the sixer of Rogues Dead Guy, which tasted like garbage. Now THERE's an over-rated beer!

    Ab-so-fucking-lutely!
At $7.99 a sixer it would be over rated to me.
To each their own obviously but this isn't anything amazing.
    Or even great
    Just good
    But not for the price

Not a chance in hell Sculpin is > HT. Which is why HT is #1 and Sculpin is not. Nowhere close to equal and HT is actually cheaper.

Around me it's definitely expensive and hard to find very fresh. So Its tough to say. But you could also do worse. People swear by it, but I can't seem to find a "good" bottle

Since getting very fresh six packs here in MA for the first time, I've been able to try the beer less than 2 weeks from bottling. It's a very good IPA when fresh. But for whatever reason, I find that I enjoy the tap version much more. To me, the tap version has a bit more bitterness and bright hop flavor compared to the bottles, never pass it up when I have a chance to try it on draft.

I was pretty excited to try sculpin and then after trying it relatively fresh I was a little let down. It is a great ipa, but it's expensive and not worth the hype imho. I honestly prefer big eye over sculpin, for 9.99 a sixer it's a pretty good value for how good it is.

I've never actually had sculpin. My local packie has 6=packs, priced reasonbly but I've shied away based on not finding a date. They appear to have a new shipment(now both white and silver caps). Anyone know their dating scheme? I checked the bottles, pack and case.
