Sculpin used to be a limited release, bombers would be available only a few times in a year for about $8. Then they started to make more, then eventually put it into six packs. Now it's everywhere year round. Seems Ballast Point just kept the "limited release" pricing even though it's year round now. And as others have said, I believe the mass production of it has taken a toll on its over all quality. I still enjoy Sclupin, but will only buy when I see it fresh at Total Wine for $11.99 a six-pack.

If money was involved id take that bet in a heartbeat. I split a sixer over 6 days. First three days - sink into couch cushion heaven. Last three - totally different beer. This drop off occurred around day 15 for me. I've had Sculpin many times since, same thing. Sorry if you find it ridiculous. I do too. But these are my experiences and they are true and factual.

Sculpin was always good but overpriced. Now the price has come down a bit but unfortunately so has the quality.

It is far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far more likely that your palate was in a very different place for any one of a myriad of reasons than the beer shifted in quality over night.

It's utterly ridiculous to be so specific about it. There's no way you or virtually any individual in the absence of a serious, controlled, experiment could possibly filter out the insane amount of things that have an effect on your palate and perception as to pinpoint any age range.

BP in general is a favorite of mine. But I haven't bought any lately.Due in part to the price but also the absolute wackiness of the bottle dating. It was a best by date now I think it's a bottle dating. At least on the 6pack cans ive seen.It hovers around $14 a six pack, gebrally bottles. So between that and seeing what I thought was 2-3 month old beer I had to pass on it.Still like to drink it but IF I am going to pay the price it better damn well be fresh*.

*Note:the word fresh is meant as a guide line to indicate a preferred window of optimum flavor and in no way definitivily indicates an actual time that an Ale has been on a shelf.
