To me the big difference lies with age: old Sculpin can taste pretty meh; old G-Fruit Sculpin tastes just like fresh G-Fruit Sculpin. Thank you "natural flavors"! :stuck_out_tongue: (But seriously, both beers are great, and I'm curious to try the Habanero.)

Regular is always my go to ipa whenever its on tap. Grapefruit isnt necessary imo.

Seems to be making a regular appearance in Ft Collins, especially at Supermarket Liquors. These increasingly regular sightings bode well for regular distro out here.

I like regular Sculpin, but around here there are so many other equally good IPAs at a better price point (Sculpin's usually around $17+ a sixer here). Grapefruit Sculpin, on the other hand, is also great plus it provides something relatively unique that, to me, justifies its price. Plus it's one of my wife's favorites. Perfect for summer.

Both are fantastic and are always in my fridge. However, I do tend to drink the grapefruit more, but I still think they are about equal.

depends what you are willing to spend, 12.99 is the best I can find price wise in jersey. but they're great IPA's. if you wanna spend less than $10 for a sixer of IPA, you'd be challenged to find one better than sculp, and moreso IMO GF Sculp

We're doing a taste test tonight, since I finally found some Grapefruit Sculpin in CO. I'll weigh in later.

I only recently tried both, and I have to say that for the price I was extremely underwhelmed. I can think of about 5 easy to obtain IPAs I like better off the top of my head.

But... to each their own! More for you guys I guess!

I dig them both, and now I have them both in cans (along with Even Keel). Are they pricey? Yeah, but worth buying every so often. Personally, I prefer regular, but the grapefruit is so damn grapefruity, which makes it unique.

    No poll ?

Anyway... they're both worth the money  - top-notch go-to IPAs - all things being equal, I'll take the grapefruit version :grinning:

I'd lean toward Grapefruit at this point; however, there was a time when I thought regular Sculpin was the cat's meow. That lupulin threshold shift is for real. No matter how fresh I get it now, it's never the same.

Okay, we're wrapping up the taste-test.

I would say the Grapefruit Sculpin is better. I love them both, but the fact that the Grapefruit is subtle adds just the right flavor. I'll take both any day though.

Had Sculpin on tap last night at Hooters. It didn't taste the same. It actually had a stale taste to it. It didn't change my mind about liking Sculpin more than Grapefruit Sculpin. It's still one of my go to IPAs. I think yesterday they had bad lines or something. Then again, it was at Hooters.....
