I'm in need of some new saisons to try. Recommendations for both rare and up-and-coming beers are welcome. I'm looking for things along the lines of Saison Dupont and Hill Farmstead saisons. I've had all of the HF shelfies, Saison Bernice, Das Uberkind, Surette, etc.

I've heard good things about Holy Mountain recently, but I don't know where to start. What should I seek out?

You might want to check Saint Somewhere Brewery as they specialize in only making saisons. They are in FL, but I don't know what their distribution is like. http://saintsomewherebrewing.com/

I believe Funkwerks is in Texas now.

Stillwater has a lot of great stuff that is easy to find and affordable while still being of very high quality imo

    Thanks Jack. Cheers.
Blaugies La Vermontoise jumps to mind with your mention of those two breweries, not that it tastes like something from either, but it is connected to both... and it's delicious. I have nothing against the quality of Holy Mountain (I enjoyed what I had - Misere Au Borinage and Witchfinder), but their beers are not inexpensive (at least by me), and if you're trading for them it would get even worse.

If they are try everything from them you can! It's all very good and most of their beers are affordable.

If you're in Texas, you should be able to find Jolly Pumpkin, Prairie Artisan and some Jester King, though Jester King's distribution is very limited.

    Specific beers:
    Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere
    Jolly Pumpkin Weizen Bam Biere
    Jester King Provenance (Lemon/Lime)
Jester King Dichotomous series (any of them)
    Prairie Artisan everything

Those are around if you've got a good bottle shop or two to hunt at. Jester King is the most hit-and-miss of the three, though their hits can be outstanding. I've not had a bad beer from Jolly Pumpkin and Prairie Artisan. They can be pricey, but I've never felt cheated.

Blackberry Farm put out a series this year. They were featured on BA once. Several different ones and not cheap but fantastic.

The dry hopped saison was spectacular.

I know this beer is kind of polarizing, but I'm a huge fan of Fanôme Saison. Its got a great mix of funk, fruit, zest. Its quite complex or a Saison, but really easy to drink and quite unique.

I agree with the recommendations on Funkwerks. I would also add GI Sofie. Fantastic brew!

    Brasserie de Blaugies!

They, imo, make some of the best Saison on the planet. Cheers.

I think you should shoot for Holy Mountain for sure. They are underrated and are not that hard to trade for as a result. Honestly any of them that you can get is what I would go for since they release somewhat sporadically.

SARA Nonna's Blend is another I would grab, as well as anything else from them that you haven't had like Cellarman.

It's not easy to get, but Blaugies/HF Le Sarrasin is one of the best I've ever had, as is CD11. I hear good things about Clover as well.

Blaugies in general makes great stuff. Other great Belgians include Thiriez and of course Fantôme.

Ale Apothecary Sahalie is expensive but awesome. Their other beers toe the saison/wild line as well and are generally well-crafted and subtle rather than facemeltingly sour.

Jester King anything should be available near you. Biere de Miel, Provenance, La Vie en Rose, Detritivore, Das Wunderkind, Das Uberkind, Le Coquetier, Noble King, Feral Dampf, Intersection of Species, and Natural Union are all great saison or saison-esque beers.

Side Project Saison de Fermier and Saison du Ble are both the easiest to get of SP beers and the most fitting for this thread from them. They are excellent.

Crooked Stave has some solid saisons and saison-esque beers, though some trend a bit sour. Surette is easy to find and great. The Hop Savant series is awesome. The St. Bretta series is interesting with some very strong hits but some misses.

Prairie has some solid entries, specially Prairie Standard and Prairie Ale. I find the Funky Gold series too sour.

Goose Island Sofie drinks awesome with a couple years on it.

It's a seasonal, but Smuttynose Hayseed is a wonderful beer that is much more in line with HF style saisons than you would think.

Lastly, I have no personal experience with them but have heard very good things, Fonta Flora.

Meriweather by Perennial and The Commons is a great saison. It's a GABF gold medal winner. It's a little expensive for what it is, but it's good.

I forgot to mention Songbird by Tallgrass. It's one of the few great saisons in a can. It's pretty readily available too. It would be easy to trade for if you don't get distribution.
