I will be on a family trip Maine and staying in Searsmont. Any suggestions on a liquor store to stop and load up for the weekend? Also looking for any local favorites to try? The wife likes IPA’s and I am a fan of stouts and malty beers. Ideas?? Thanks in advance. Cheers! Jay
While you're up there, check out Marshall Wharf Brewery/Three Tides restaurant in Belfast. You can get growlers at the brewery. The sister restaurant next door has a wide variety of their beers on tap, and a great waterfront setting.
Thanks, I saw that. Any good package stores to go to or should I plan on shopping at a local grocery store?
I would drive to Oxbow's Newcastle (original) facility: https://www.google.com/maps/place/O...812a15d7183c62!8m2!3d44.0827761!4d-69.5637131 For package stores I might do a day trip to Portland for a better selection. You would look for Bier Celler on Forest Ave, or RSVP further down Forest.
The Belfast Coop has a decent beer wine, and cider selection. Also a great cheese store in town. New brewpub in Ellsworth - Airline Brewing.
No idea if the beers are good? Maybe somebody else knows. But the place is right in Searsmont, probably worth a look? http://www.threshersbrewingco.com/
Happened upon Threshers a few weeks ago while on our way back from Deer Isle. I think they only opened in August? Or July? Very unassuming spot, not terrible but not worth going out of your way for.
