    Hey all you North-westerner's,

A buddy (chippercat) and I will be heading up to Seattle (8/7 - 8/10) and Portland (8/11 - 8/13) next week.

Main reason for visiting Seattle is to see Ken Griffey Jr. get inducted into the Mariners HOF (going to the luncheon on Friday and the game on Saturday).

We will definitely be hitting up some of the major beer destinations in both cities. Let me know if you want to meet up for a pint (or tulip) of beer.

We'll be at BeerMongers (Portland) on Monday, August 12th around 5:30pm - 6pm for a bottleshare with a few friends (Shmeal and LoPo87) if anyone wants to join us.

I have limited room, so I will only be bringing a bottle or two to share (and a growler to get fills while we are up there).

BTW, what the best places to get growler fills in Seattle (or a little east of Seattle) outside of breweries?

    -Scott-

If you're going to be just "a little east of Seattle" --- I'm assuming Bellevue, Kirkland, or Redmond? ---- then you should hit up Malt & Vine in Redmond for growler fills.

Thanks for the response BuckeyeOne, I guess I should have been a little more specific. We are staying at Tinkham Campsite (47.40583, -121.58167) for the first 3 nights and I would be looking for a good growler fill up (Whole Foods, grocery stores, bottle shops) along Interstate 90.

Just a thouight Skuter, but as it sounds as if you'll be driving up to the campground via I-5 and then I-90, why not simply stop at 99 bottles and get a growler fill there (at least for the first night). It's right off the interestate, and so would take you no time at all to get in and out, and they usually have a decent, well priced selection of beers on draft there. 99 bottles also has a superb bottle selection, should you decide you need to augment your growler selection with something from their extensive cold box.

    Good luck.

Hmmm...looks pretty far south, we are actually flying in and then renting a car. So we will be starting at the airport and actually heading to downtown Seattle the first day and wanted to grab a growler on our way out to the campsite..

But thanks for the suggestion, may have to hit up the 99 bottles later in the week.

If you're flying into SeaTac, then yeah, it's a bit out of your way to get to (probably 15 or 20 minutes south of the airport, depending on traffic). I just assumed you were driving up, given that you were doing a few days of camping up that way. Sorry... never mind. :-)

If you're coming from Sea-Tac hit up Super Deli Mart or Beer Junction on your way into Seattle.

Forget Super Deli Mart. Beer Junction is your best bet close to the airport.

I don't know if Dog and Pony Alehouse in Renton does growler fills. If they do, it's an easy off and on from I-405, which is what I assume you'd take from the airport to get to the campground.

My rec for the downtown area would actually be Bambinos. They fill growlers, solid tap list all the time, and are very near the Space Needle if you happen to be sight-seeing. If you can budget time to eat, you won't regret it. Calzones and pies are great there!

We are actually going in a rental car from Airport --> Downtown Seattle (Pike's Place Market) --> Tinkham Campgrounds (off I-90). Is Bottleworks really a 15 min drive from Pike's Place Market on a Wednesday afternoon, say around 4:00pm? Also, do Whole Foods in Seattle have growler filling stations?

Tin Bucket in Portland. They have fancy counter-pressure fillers with 40 beers available for fills.

Fill up a bunch of growlers and lord over your Cali friends!

On a Wed afternoon, yeah. If you take 99 (Aurora) and get off on 46th (which turns to 45th) it's right there.

Currently the only Whole Foods in town that fills growlers is the Westlake Whole Foods in South Lake Union (near downtown) but I hear the list is lackluster. Literally a couple blocks away is the Wurst Place. They fill growlers, and always have Boneyard on-tap. Go there instead.

If you can do Wurst Place and Bottleworks, get it done. Like stated, they are about 10-15 minutes away from each other. You can easily make it from Pike Place Market to Bottleworks, with a quick stop at Wurst Place in 15-20 minutes.

If you're looking to get a growler closer to Tinkham, the North Bend Bar & Grill fills growlers (nothing mindblowing, but their house beer is a decent DIPA from Snoqualmie Brewing), or for that matter the Snoqualmie Brewery itself is only 10ish minutes off I-90.

No Fremont Brewing? Need to add it in. You'd be fine dropping Noble Fir and going to Fremont instead.

Also, Big Time is in the same general vicinity as your Friday destinations.

Fremont was originally on my list, but after looking at their beers, I wasn't all that excited, but if you guys think it is better than Noble Fir, I'll swap it out.

We have more time on Thursday than we do on Friday and Big Time isn't that far from Bottleworks.

Georgetown is less exciting than Fremont.
