Have any of you Seattle locals checked this place out? If so, what are your thoughts? It certainly looks like they're doing some creative brews.

I'm in the Southwest, but someone I know inquired about this place and I told him I'd look into getting feedback from some fellow BAs.

    Thanks!

I'm gonna have to agree with honkduh on this one. I stopped in just over a month ago and was somewhat disappointed. Their taplist was very intriguing--clearly creative brewers--but I was just not impressed with any of the beers I tried. I don't regret making the stop by any means, but if you have a friend visiting Seattle, I can name off about 20 breweries I would recommend first.

Since I started drinking craft beer, all of my clothes have become extra something.

Well, if we have construction signs that urge motorcycles to use "Extreme Caution", we could probably have a very mediocre brewery.:stuck_out_tongue:

We went yesterday. Of the breweries in our one-day tour, I felt they were on-average better than Fremont and not as good as Reubens. (Honestly, Fremont was hugely disappointing, given that they've been around for a while and actually distribute.) The Peanut Butter Stout was decent, and the Goats & Roses and Astragalus (sp?) were both pretty good. Clearly they are being fairly experimental and as such I wouldn't expect every batch to be great or to everyone's taste, but I wouldn't write them off.

Your Fremont experience is puzzling. They do some very incredible things with their Brother and Sister IIPA's, KDS, b-bomb. Not to mention their Cowiche Canyon series. Most are seasonals though and not available now. If you limited yourself to the Small Batch Limited Wonders well it can be a crap shoot. A hit-or-miss for you personally.
Tough luck but maybe give them a second look a different time of year. You might get lucky.

I've had and liked B-Bomb, but it was not on tap. Standard Dark Star was, and was IMO the best of the 6 beers we sampled. The 77 Select and Super Duper II were both thin, grainy and slightly soapy; I'd almost think that both were made with second runnings. Proletariat Porter was also thin and uninteresting. Interurban and Brother were good but not great. All in my opinion, of course, but I wouldn't put them on my list for a repeat visit the next time I'm in Seattle. (Independent of the beer, the fellow working the bar seemed grumpy and annoyed that I asked questions about the beers when putting together my sample tray.)

Puzzling? They have some decent beer, but I'm not blown away by them the way a lot people on this forum are. Admittedly, I'm pretty bored of IIPAs lately.

went to Outlander, Reubens, NW Peaks and Hilliards on a tour last fall. Reubens was the standout of the group, though NW Peaks was good as well. Outlander was disappointing. I had the Foreign IPA, Chile Amber and Pumpkin Spice, none of which were good.
