grabbed what i believe was the last 3 bottles of sebago barleywine at manchester wine and liquors ($9 each, hoho).

i'm guessing this means it's time for hartford county BAs to check places like m&r (glastonbury and south windsor especially), sonoma in glastonbury, harvest or whatever it's called in west hartford. amity probably got some as well, but i don't know (distributions strangely inconsistent across the state for most breweries).

haven't opened one yet. looking forward to it.

If anyone is still looking for this and can make it to Tonys in Haddam then I still have a few bottles left. A certain CT brewer wiped me out of half a case but I was able to get more!

99 cents more than at the brewery. Worth every penny imo.

What do you normally pay for barrel-aged barleywines?

It's not so much the cost itself that's distressing, but the increase: the last batch of this beer was all over CT for $9. Yeah, that was a terrific deal for a BBBW, but a 50% price hike is always going to sting a bit.

Class of '88 isn't barrel-aged, so that won't give you a good barometer.

Fair point there. This was my first time purchasing it and the Bourbon County Barleywine is the only one I can think of that's cheaper for comparable quality.

    1) picked up a bottle at the wine thief in new haven, $10~. I think there were 2 or 3 left (at least 1).

    2) fully agree with rekrule's response to me on the previous page: this year's is amazingly even better than the last one. i suppose it's no longer a "sleeper hit," but it is excellent. love the depth they got out of this beer, and love that i have 3 more bottles.

Jealous of the prices you are getting, seeing as I bought it from the source. Still glad I have 2 more bottles. I think it's still a sleeper hit, it's stuck around for a while now. Fantastic beer. Enjoy.

Was able to get 1 bottle for $10. Just drank it on Friday night. Great beer. Definatley would by another if I had a chance, because I think it will get even better with age. They need to make more!
