I know it's not a buzz beer, but Sebago Full Throttle DIPA (Gorham, ME) is a nice, hoppy beer. Get it fresh while it's available. One of the most satisfying DIPAs in NE, and it has a lot of resinous flavor: Simcoe for sure, maybe Chinook or Citra as well. It's not going to knock you out like Heady Topper, but, to me, Sebago makes a pretty damn drinkable DIPA.

Reviews aren't very up-to-date: has anybody had this beer in the past month? Your thoughts?

    Cheers

Haven't had it in a couple years now that you mention it, but it is a really solid beer--just as you described. Sebago's a bit of an unsung brewery in my book--the IPA, DIPA and a few others are solid if not outstanding, but some of the stuff they've brought to festivals (Gentian Dimension, for one) and Local Harvest have been very good. If (maybe when) I live in New Hampshire or Maine, I'd drink a lot more of them.

when i bought their cheap bourbon barrel barleywine on a whim a year or two ago i did a few double takes upon tasting it. loved that beer. ended up buying about a case.

not always impressed with them but they certainly know how to make a beer. easy to convince me to try one of their beers now.

I like that Sebago is doing a lot of single batches and experimental beers. The night a few months ago where they offered an Abbey-style single, dubbel, trippel and quad (all test batches) was a lot of fun. Each brewer was there to discuss the beer.
