So, for my second batch I brewed an extract Red IPA. Its been in the fermenter for 48 hours and really isn't bubbling. The beer is 'swirling' around in the fermenter but there really isn't any CO2 coming out of the airlock. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Tim
If the wort/beer is swirling around, it's fermenting. Assuming the airlock is filled properly, you're not seeing bubbles in it because something, like your bucket lid or carboy stopper, isn't airtight.
Tightened the lid as much as I could and adjusted airlock and now we're bubbling away. Thanks so much!
Don't touch anything for 2 more weeks. Take a gravity reading and another 2 days after that. If they are the same number, you should go ahead and package.
Sounds like a good plan, so at 2.5 weeks I should do a gravity reading and then another at 3 weeks? I'm not transferring to a secondary.
So, I kegged this batch last week and now its carbonated. I must say for my 2nd batch it's pretty good. No off flavors, just a really solid Amber. I think I'm really going to like this hobby! Thanks for all of the assistance.
