What are some breweries that the first time(s) you tried a beer of theirs you didn't really care for them, but now you really like that brewery? First Stone beer I had was Arrogant Bastard. I knew that Stone had a reputation as a great brewery and the Bastard was their flagship, so might as well start with that, right? Wrong! (Well, at least for me. A person who just started to get into craft beer a few before having Arrogant). Yeah, it wasn't my cup of tea. I had their Self-Righteous a couple months later; Still not feelin' this brewery. (Then again my palette wasn't read for (the delicious) onslaught of hops). Then I had their Imperial Russian Stout. All I can say is I wish this was a year-round serving. This beer got me loving the brewery. Now, All their different ipas, collabs, special releases, etc. are beers that are definitely worthy of purchase for (me at least). (I think I need to revisit Arrogant and Self-Righteous sometime soon). Sorry for the wall of text, but I'd like to know, what's your story?
For years I dismissed Avery but after visiting the brewery last year I am enamored with some of their more unique stuff - I never realized how extensive and flavorful their sour program was either.
This is an isolated incident but I had the S'morter from Equinox Brewing on tap at Choice City in Fort Collins and it was really horrible...notes of infection, to say the least. This was right before going to Equinox so it was pretty disappointing...then I went to the brewery and had the same beer and it was pretty damm good! Completely different. I'm not sure if there was something wrong with the lines at Choice City or what, but I'm very glad I tried the beer from the source. All of their other beers were very tasty as well.
