I put an APA into secondary about a week ago (yeah yeah no need for secondary....i did it because i wanted to free my primary for a stout) and when i made the transfer there was still a good bit of star san bubbles in the carboy (i mix 1 oz/5 gallons). Since the transfer there have been some white patches on top of the beer. I figured it would settle out but it hasnt. Is this bacteria or sanitizer?

sorry i dont know how to embed. best pics i could get without moving the carboy into the light. didnt want to stir anything up. also this beer is not anywhere close to the color i wanted. it looks dirty as all hell still. I wanted it to be a light caramel color. I guess i'll use cara 20l instead of 40l next time

Hard to tell from the pic, but could just be yeast floaties. If you can't take a better pic, can you google up a pic of something similar and post?

Color-wise, beer looks darker in a fermenter than in a drinking glass.

Can't find anything like it. They are really white and have small bubbles in them. I think it may be star san bubbles that arent sinking

I'm voting for yeast, I have never noticed Starsan bubbles to linger that long.

I've seen this in a couple of my past beers and like you I suspected it was starsan, but I could be wrong and it might be yeast. Its not an infection.

If the beer was done fermenting why didn't you just bottle or keg it?
