I have a plastic conical that has a yellow flexi rubber/plastic lid for it. The conical is completely opaque, and I hate that about it.

I wanna see what is going on inside there, especially now that it is for sours. My thought is to cut out mostly all of the top section, and then cut open a plastic 2L soda bottle since it is PET like a Better Bottle. After cutting it to fit on the inside of the lid, I was going to seal it, but was wondering what would be the best adhesive to use? Would this work? Any thing I am not thinking about here?

    Thanks for the help.

Can't help much with the practicality of what you're thinking about, but I'd make sure there's an easy way to cover the transparent part when you're not looking, to avoid UV light exposure.

Thanks for the reminder. I will def have that taken care of. I keep a black shirt over it right now, and it will be in the garage for the longterm storage. Brewdays and the coming nice weather means the door garage door will be up so I will make sure that I cover it with a pillow case. Thanks.

Another option I am tossing around is to leave the lid intact, and use saran wrap over the opening with a thick massive rubberband (doubled over) in place of the lid. This way I can see through it easily, saran wrap isn't breathable, and the lid remains in one piece just in case I need it at some point. I could even put the lid on over the saran wrap to keep light out, and then remove it to look inside w/o letting in tons of oxygen each time I take it off. Thoughts?
