Selecting a Wine Drinker's First Beer

    Belgians: for white wine drinkers sours seem to do a trick, for red drinkers go trappist or abbey ales

    To add to what I have already said, amongst what some others have stated, La Fin du Monde (and really anything by Unibroue) would also be decent choices. Also, Weyerbacher just came out with this year's Althea, a dubbel brewed with plums. That has some nice fruity and wine-like characteristics as well and should be available in your area.

    Rubaeus, Consecration, and serendipity come to mind.

    Allagash Tripple Ale and Brooklyn Sorachi Ace or Local 1. They are all outstanding beers that are easy on a new pallet. It also may be a plus they come with a cork & you can share a bottle like wine. He wants to try a beer, not a beer that tastes like wine in my opinion.
