that urge will tail off with time. i'd hazard a guess and say 90% of the posters here started off like you (i did).

there's the discovery phase, the buying of every beer in sight phase, trading, cellaring and finally acceptance. my basement had about 7 cases of beer in it 3 summers ago. down to about 12 bottles now with about 12 more in the fridge.

bro, if you don't drink every day then why do you even post here? real beer drinkers are having 2-3 a night, but only low ABV beers and if that turns in to 5-6 and they're a little hungover in the morning, so what. that's what BA's do, bro. anyone who doesn't do that is just fucking lame.

A BA is not defined by how much they drink beer, but rather how much they enjoy beer when they drink it. Limitations such as being required to drink every day or being required to drink as much as possible. I think, largely miss the point.

Beer is meant to be enjoyed. At your own pace, in an environment that you enjoy with whatever beer, brewery, style, etc. that you like.

Returning to OP, I do place limitations on myself, for many reasons. Essentially, no more than 2 per day ( or 1 bomber ) and no more then 10 per week (again a bomber = 2 ). That is what works for me, but realize that doesn't work for others. I certainly respect whatever allows others to find balance between being a BA and the other aspects of their lives.

I don't spend my money on restaurants. I spend it on beer. 1-2 drinks a night. keeps the machinery oiled.

Real beer drinkers? Wow, drinking with you must be one of the most unejoyable events known to mankind. You are pretty much the epitome of what people describe as a beer snob or elitist, which in turn drives more people back to drinking BMC. If you have any more need to be a douchebag, go elsewhere and post it there.

Being Asian with a somewhat high tolerance, this is very easy. I usually stop when my face turns red.

I only drink on the weekends for many reasons.
When I do drink, I try to limit myself so that I don't get blackout drunk.

    Pretty simple, really.

I try to stay under 120-160 ABV-oz. per day. If I go much higher, I take a day off or just have one the next day.

Went to an excessive bachelor party last night, so I didn't drink Thurs, Fri, or Sunday.

Mostly for health reasons, and alcoholism is pretty rampant in half of my family.

One a day Mon-Thurs. Sundays during non-football season usually are only 1 as well, but in the fall thats tough to hold to when football starts at noon. No real limits Fri/Sat. For caloric reasons more than anything. Ive lost quite a bit of weight and want to keep it that way.

As long as that bottle is a 128oz growler, no problem...

No drinking Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I only work 3 days a week(and early in the morning 2am) so no those days or nights. I try to budget before I walk into the shop. Then the budget for everything else changes once I'm there!

I limit myself to 2 beers a day no matter what. Unless it's my day off then I limit myself to 3. Unless it's a weekend then it's 4. Unless I'm grilling then I limit myself to 5 or 1 beer per hour whichever is greater. Of course I have been known to break these rules on a regular basis.

I drink beer whenever I find the time, which is usually Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I often drink 1 beer on week nights, then switch to water. Hydrated for the weekend.

I try to drink 2 beers per week, and usually purchase more when my variety is a little low.
