I just drink when I feel like it and have the time/money etc. Sometimes it's once a week on a Friday night and sometimes I drink 3 or 4 nights in a row. Sometimes it's one beer sometimes it's 4 or 5. I think it is interesting to see what other people drink or how much. But, there is an awful lot of judging by people if someone drinks too much or too little, or spends too much or too little just enjoy your beer and let that person live their life.

I've got a one-a-day streak going since about Thanksgiving. I typically drink 2-4 (counting a bomber as 2) 'regular' beers in a day, typically not over 7 or 8%, if they're higher ABV I'll often stick to a lower number but if they're lighter is when I'll get up to 4. During the week I spread it out from 5pm when I get home from work until 11pm when I'm going to bed so it's rare that I've had enough at any given poitn to get a buzz (even if I didn't have a tolerance). Weekends can be a bit more than this especially if my first is in the afternoon, or if I'm drinking something weightier.

I have a family with two small kids to take care of, but since I'm not pounding back beer after beer, and most of my consumption is after they're in bed, my drinking doesn't get in the way of taking care of the kids. With that said, I'm looking at cutting back because a case or more per week plus nice stuff for the weekends is getting to be far too expensive.

I try to drink almost exclusively on the weekends now (I'm trying to make my diet a little healthier), but occasionally I'll have a beer during the week. For example, after DLD I'm in the mood for a good stout, so I may have a BCBCS tonight. However, if it's not a typical work week (vacation), I'm definitely open to drinking.

In terms of budget, I don't have a hard one, but I try to only make one beer purchase a week, and usually limit it to $10-20. The exception would be if I'm going to a brewery to try multiple things, or if something crazy like Dark Lord or BCBS comes out (at which point I buy all I can of each). The only other exception (related) is when I've already made my purchase for the week, and something I've wanted to try/something rare comes out. For example, if I grabbed a 4-pack of Daisy Cutter, and 2 days later Parabola lands, I'll pick a bottle up if I can.

If you read his posts from earlier in the thread, it's obvious that his "bro..." post is purely sarcastic. my above post on the other hand describes a similar quantity of consumption, but with a completely different attitude toward it. I drink each beer because I enjoy every one (although I don't drain pour anything I dislike, except in extreme examples such as a problem bottle, I find that disrespectful) and I have become preoccupied with variety, particularly chasing the 'Top 250' and 'of Fame' lists.

Beer is my hobby. I drink when I want.

When I start imposing limitations and rules, it becomes a job.

Being in the military, I've tried to limit my during the week consumption just because a slight hangover and running at 6am don't mix really well. So I try not to drink during the week, but usually by Thursday I want to throat punch those I work with so I end up having a bomber or 1-2 beers that night. Weekends I like to limit myself to 5-6 a day, but it all depends on what I'm doing. This past Saturday I went through a 12 pack because I was watching the NBA playoffs all day. Sounds like a lot but when the first game starts at noon and the last game ends after midnight central time, I drank about 1 per hour.

I certainly am not going running at 6am, but I don't really get why having even 2 or 3 beers on a Tuesday will result in a hangover (this goes to all of the people who reference 'hangover' as a reason not to imbibe at all during the week).

Perhaps I'm too young (29) or perhaps I have too much tolerance built up, but if I space out 4 beers throughout an evening I'm not even going to get tipsy let alone hungover the next day.

Your right, it isn't the hangover at all, but I have noticed a negative correlation with drinking the night before and running the next day. Even if I have 1 or 2, I usually have a slower time.

Fair enough, but I saw what seemed like a dozen or more people that used the word 'hangover' as a reason to completely abstain during the week, and while I won't try to say everyone should drink more than they're comfortable with, I don't understand how a 'hangover' enters into the conversation until at least a six pack.

I don't drink during the week. Friday I'll enjoy a couple and Saturday it might either be another couple of beers unless my wife and I enjoy a bottle of wine together.

1-2 per night most nights. Sometimes miss a day, every once in a while I reach 3, but then only on a weekend. I do not drink to get buzzed (although it does happen), but my main rule is not to get hammered. It used to be fun every once in a while 20 years ago, but these days I just don't like it.

I'm about this way. The only rigid limits that I have are that I'm on call 24/7 and try to stay fit for duty, and I limit myself to 2 if I'm driving. If I'm driving, I'll also drink some water and have a meal around those 2. I buy as mush as I want, and drink what I want, I just try to remain responsible.

I have been steadily gaining weight so I am going to do my best to drink only Friday - Sunday. We'll see how that goes though... Maybe if things go well I will just limit myself to a 375ml/12 oz on week days instead of a 750ml/bomber

Unfortunately that doesn't prevent me from adding to the stock pile

I'm not good with math so I don't count calories, beers, or money. If I feel full, I don't drink. If I'm too buzzed, I don't drink, and if the wife starts complaining about money, well that can go either way. In all seriousness, I take a few days off a week but find myself howling at the moon when the weekends roll in. I love my growlers and corked beers but def keep an eye on the money and try to do cheaper session beers like black n tans and soft IPAs when consuming a lot.

You and me both. Why can't we have everything we want in unlimited quantities? WHY?

I don't count beer I buy when out for dinner, but limit myself to a 1/2 keg a week. I normally end up running out on Sundays, which is a good excuse to take the wife out for dinner. Been using this system for the last 10 years and it works great except when I have guest over and they dip into my limit.

1-2 beers per night, 3-4 on weekends. I'll sometimes add 1 to that number if the Bruins are playing, and definitely during the playoffs. But I also try to keep ABV under 7% for almost all beers I drink.
