This seems logical. Where did you get your facts, if you don't mind me asking?

I drink probably 10,000 calories worth of beer a week, I never exercise and my weight has not deviated by more than 2 lbs up or down from 279 lbs (I am 6' 2") in 10+ months.

Beer limitation? My only limitation is make sure there's enough beer in the fridge for tomorrow if I don't have time to make it to the liquor store. That's all that matters

Budget and calories are both concerns. I try to limit myself to max of about 2 on weeknights/ 4 on weekends. I love the idea of taking a month off, I've done multiple weeks/ two week periods and the first beer after that tastes so good. I'm struggling a little with budgeting, I love the idea of buying cases based on the discount, but going through cases of IPA while still fresh are tough. Lately I've been trying to do less new beers and pick up good deals on old standbys to save money. For me the best deals are a case of something reasonable that ages well (most recent case purchase was Sierra Nevada Narwhal).

I feel like there's some delusion about healthy weight in this thread, like the guy who was 6'2" and 279. Bottom line any excess fat around your arteries is a bad thing and the empty calories from beer can definitely contribute. I'm 6'4", 240 and should lose some weight. It's always a tough balancing act, but at least thinking about it and planning consumption vs eating habits and excecise is a good place to start.

Two 30-day beer-free periods per year.
Going on year 5 of this i think. Works out good. Like most things in life that one enjoys, i find that beer tastes much, much better after a period of abstinence.

I dont have set drinking rules. That being said, I typically do not have a beer from Monday to Thursday unless im on vacation. One night Friday or Sat I will drink a lot. Either a bottle share, or happy hour into bar for the night ...The other weekend night I might drink just as much, more or none. Sundays I dont drink unless im at a game.

I usually only get one or two "beer nights" a week, depending on what my off days are that week. I work a physically and mentally demanding job, so I really can't go in and coast through the day hungover, mostly for my own safety.
When I do get a beer night I will obviously splurge on a good six pack or a really good bomber, then some cheapy beers to round out the night.
Cost is an issue too. I would rather drink really great beer one or two nights a week vs. drinking 12 Coors Lights every night.

Lately I've been buying a lot more than I've been drinking which is an issue. I'm coming to a point now where I need to do some legitimate drinking before I buy anymore.

Of course, that's not going to stop me from scooping up White Chocolate Moo-Hoo if I happen to see it... But, for right now I'm putting a self imposed hold until I do some more consuming.

Preach it. Averaging ~25 miles a week means that the only real limitations on my consumption are my budget and my sense of self-control...both of which, unfortunately, are still fairly restrictive :slight_frown:

One bottle or pint a weeknight, two each on Friday and Saturday. If I go over any night, I refrain the next day. That puts me at about 9/week. This is mostly so that I enjoy the beer and don't spend every last dollar on it.

As for beer buying, I typically limit myself to one at a bar if the situation allows. I hate paying bar prices for mediocre beer when I could get excellent beer at the store. Tonight for example, $5 for a Sam Adams BL at the bar, $9 for a four-pack of Founders Breakfast Stout at the store. Hmmm wonder where I'd rather put my money.

I'd say that I drink about half of the days in a year and have no alcohol the other half. Rarely do I go over three 12-16 ouncers a day or three drinks of "hard" alcohol when I do drink.

I’d say that I “tie one on” about once per month, maybe less often.

I tend to not drink during the week and within 3 months of a fight or tournament I limit my weekend beer intake and adjust my diet to make weight. Six weeks before a fight there is no beer or food fun in at all. The days after a fight, drinking beer are the sweetest beers I have ever tasted. A religious break does make beer a real, "experience."

I don't do much limiting, as I am a bit of a hedonist, but for the sake of being able to actually enjoy a range beers I do find myself being very conscious about the amount of IPA I drink. Not many things bring me down like not being able to taste my beer properly because I'm "hopped out".

I was going to make a post asking if many other BAs watch their IPA intake for the same reason, but then I wanted to play video games and drink a beer instead. Like I said. Hedonist.

If I feel good enough to go to work and live my life the next day, I'm good. That's about it. Drink up!!

I'm only 21 years old, and I'm kind of glad that I don't have a ton of money for fear that I would just buy a lot of beers and drink often. My guess is I have about two a day. Depends how bad the day was. Some days I have none and I feel fine, which makes me happy as well.

I usually stick with 1-2 beers a night with my dinner after work and enjoy more on the weekend. After a ridiculous experience last year I will not, under any circumstance drink a barleywine after a shit load of other beers. lol. I made the foolish mistake of topping off a long night of drinking with DFH's Olde School.

If I didn't run 3 miles, I shouldn't have a beer. That doesn't mean I don't on the days I don't run... but that's really my only limitation. I also don't like to drink during the week since I work early... But it doesn't mean I don't. I just I have general guides for myself that I bend quite a bit
