I guess it has been awhile since a thread like this was started so I will be "that guy" who toots the horn of a local establishment that needs to have some accolades and credit given where credit is deserved.

If you have not been to SGB in awhile, put it on your to-do list to get there fucking asap. Call it a Christmas gift to yourself or a must on your to-do list before the holidays. I was a bit let down by the pumpkin ale this year after tooting its horn and proclaiming it to be the best pumpkin ale for the prior 2 years. However, coming off of that rare miss they are back at it with nearly a full taplist of stellar offerings.

Locals know that when the IPA is dialed in, it is the real deal and a must have. Not only is the IPA on right now, but so is the American Pale ale and the Snafu IPA. Snafu has been a brew that I personally have missed out on for the past ~5 years. It always seems to be scratched off the menu when I show up. Anyway, it is on now and it is a big brother to standard IPA. If that isnt reason enough for you to get your ass in gear and head out to SGB, they also currently have the wee heavy on the hand pull from both last year and this year for a side by side comparison. Have I got your attention yet? No? Well, how about a whole new coffee stout that is on nitro? Brewed with locally roasted coffee, this one is pretty damn tasty.

Coming soon is also the framboise. I wish I lived closer to SGB... but then again, maybe its best for my liver and wallet that I am an hour away. If you do happen to head out there, check out their new glassware. they dont really advertise it as being available, but if you ask you can snag one for under 6 bucks. I think it is pretty solid and is rapidly becoming a new favorite. here are some pics of the front and the back:

I don't see myself getting out there again any time soon, but I definitely want that glass.

yesterday was the first day they went on sale and its hard to say how long they will last. dont quote me on this but last year they gave thistles away for their "customer appreciation day" and i want to venture a guess that there was around 120 of them (12 to a case and roughly 10 cases give or take that i saw that day.)

Selinsgrove is about an hour or so north of me. Is there anything else up that way that would strengthen my reasoning for driving up? I've wanted to check out Bulldog Brewing in Williamsport, too. Maybe I can patch those trips together.

I had a barrel aged wee heavy there this past August. One of the best beers I've had this year. Truly a gem of a brewery.

I was there recently and had the Snafu, Ipa, and 2011 WeeHeavy on cask. The Wee Heavy was unbelievable!! Highly recommend this place!

Huh? How about BullFROG brewing?? An hours drive is a trip to the shopping center-go now.

I love that place... just wish it wasn't a 3.5 hour drive for me...

    (worth it though!)

Any clues as to when the Framboise might be on? I'm itching to make the 4 hours drive for that!

Selin's Grove alone is worth the drive.

I would not be surprised if it was put on tap wednesday when they open the pub. The pumpkin is gone for the year and they have both nitro taps flowing with something different now. There happens to be a free spot in the lineup that would allow for it to be put on if it is ready and they want to.

Check out their website, they have been doing a decent job keeping it current since they upgraded it. When its on, they will update it.

Nice! I try to check their Facebook once in a while but they're website used to be horribly outdated. Glad to hear they revamped it!

I have been waiting for the return of some additional glassware. I still use the goblets that they used to have and was very disappointed when they discontinued the use of them. These look nice. Now all they have to do is sell the Anniversary style glasses and we will be in business.
