You young guys will have to go easy on me usually only ride 250 to 300 miles a week. But if good beer is included I can pick up the pace a little.

You can walk into Tree House right now and get a 12 pack of Sap, growler fills of Sap, Present Moment and Curiosity 13 and no wait. Just sayin'.

Or perhaps only by owning his own company, and abiding by his own very personal, idiosyncratic guidelines and practices, is he able to minimize becoming alienated from the product of his labor.

Waiting in line for beer is stupid? What's stupid about it???

#newmoneytraders in search of the latest commodity. Same jackasses who used to buy up,all,of the iPhones, xboxes and, play stations and flip them,on eBay are now doing the same thing with beer, albeit on trading boards and *, not on eBay.

No way, the beer bike club is already overcrowded on the weekends. I don't have time to wait in lines to go for a simple bike ride! I remember you used to be able to just walk right in and out of the club, no lines.

Unfortunately, I'm out in Western Mass. But I wholeheartedly support this central mass ride that seems to be developing!

If there are any people in Wester Mass interested in doing a ride to various local breweries, hit me up! I'll gladly take point and organize it!

Would be interested in the bike/beer ride too. I bike from Hopkinton to Jacks Abby now.

Even way outside the city you can easily find Perpetual, Finestkind, Meadowlark, Enjoy By, (and others) if you're in the market for quality IPA's. With these I can survive quite well between missions. Only a year ago you had to hunt these down out in the exurbs/beyond. Plus if you live on any kind of budget the savings is enormous. Perpetual and Finestkind can sometimes be had for $14.99/12 pack.

It is what it is. Just feel lucky that you weren't around when the only decent beer was Ballentine IPA or you got excited because a bar served Otter Creek. It is also better that these breweries are successful and not going out of business- on the contrary, other new great ones are springing up.
I walked into the Hermit Thrush the other day, filled a growler and drank a flight- I was the only one there the entire time. Will The Hermit Thrush become a place where you have to wait on line to fill a growler one day? I am sure the owners hope so.

Only in such a system do breweries like Lawson's spring up. Don't think he would be a commercial brewer if he wasn't making any money doing it.

I'd rather live during this craft beer boom, and deal with a few headaches than have spent my 20's like my dad did thinking Molson Export was a big deal. He would trek out to god forsaken stores in W.Mass to just find dusty bottles of interesting European beers just to break up the monotony of what was available during the '70s and early '80s.

Yeah, I'd MUCH rather have to deal with these industry growing pains than those dark ages.

I agree in the sense that it can be frustrating at times. Its the single reason why i have yet to even drink anything from treehouse. I cannot justify driving 3 hours round trip to wait in line for likely 1-2 hours and go home with a couple bottles/cans of maybe 2 or 3 different beers. I was stoked for EBF to try their stuff.. but they had the same issue. Only brought 1 beer and it kicked very early.

On the plus side, i think its great that these MA breweries are starting to blow up. Trillium is hands down my favorite brewery and witnessing them blow up globally recently is just awesome. They make some of the greatest beers in the world So seeing their hard work and dedication pay off like this is great. The only time ive ever sat in a line was during their recent upper case release. I find myself having to go into boston quite frequently in order to get beers before they sell out but its not that much of a problem and i can easily get each beer they release with enough planning. Trillium is starting to adapt to these issues by opening the brewery on mondays and tuesdays and also decreasing the bottle limit from 12 to 6 per person. They are also set to open up a new brewery later this year and thats only going to benefit them as well!

Im still waiting for the day to get my hands on Treehouse stuff. But it wont be until they upgrade their current system and possibly expand their brewery hours/days. Just being open 3 days a week... especially at the end of the week is one of the main reasons for massive lines.

I agree. Especially if you can get out there on a Thursday.

Overall, TH is still that wait. The past three weeks I have gone I have come home with cans and since it was under a 10 minute wait, picked up a couple of fills as well. Last Thursday was a culmination of multiple factors, don't let that steer you away from enjoying the great TH beer. Use a little common sense and don't show up when they first open, show up an hour to two after opening and you will be in and out in no time. I refuse to wait hours in line myself but now that I know not to show up at open, I know I don't need to. Cheers!

My 2 cents on Trillium. I've never been shut out on anything there because they are smart about batch size and limits. I go every other week or so between 6-7pm and have never had to wait more than 3 min. Also a better time for conversation with the staff (if that's something you like).
