Hosting an event at my house and planning on brewing a pumpkin beer as one of the beer options. The pumpkin beer will be served later in the evening, so it won’t sit in the pumpkin for hours. Unless the contact won’t have a negative impact on the beer. I was thinking of getting a medium sized pumpkin and filing it with my pumpkin beer from the keg like I would with a bottle, Low psi to keep the carbonation. Then I was either going to install one of my extra beer faucets or a spigot from my bottling bucket. It’s will be just a bunch of dudes, aka sausage fest, so presentation doesn’t doesn’t really matter.

Would this work? If I use a faucet and shank will there be enough pressure to pour from the tap? If I clean the pumpkin really well could I eliminate most of extra pumpkin debris? Also, if the beer sat in the pumpkin for, just say a few hours would the flavor Of the pumpkin impact be good or bad on the flavor?

I’ve seen some pictures of people serving from a pumpkin and thought if it’s some additional pumpkin flavor that could be really cool. I am just not sure if that flavor will be good or more vegetable flavor.

I guess worst case try the pumpkin and if it’s a bust I just pour from the taps.

i think a bottleing bucket spikot would work. clean that pumpkin out good with a metal spoon, refrigerate and apply porter as close to serving time as possible.

Another option, presuming you already keg, might be to just have it kegged as normal, and install a regular spout to a pumpkin, with the beer line coming in from behind.
Unless you want to have it sit in the pumpkin - though the carving ones don't really make for good eating.

I feel like you would just be using the pumpkin much more like a pitcher with a faucet that you will likely have to refill occasionally. (I'm reminded of those contraptions you might see at a sports bar - tube of beer with an inner tube of ice and a faucet for the table). It wouldn't rely on pressure, just gravity. Depending on the size of the pumpkin you could probably freeze a water bottle or two and throw those in there to keep it at least chilled.

You can probably freeze the pumpkin as well. This will help keep the beer at temp., keep debris to a minimum, and may also hold back some of those flavors the pumpkin will impart into the beer. Just be sure to clean the pumpkin well, making sure the inside is as smooth as possible. I think this will work though if you try it.

Side note: I once made a bong out of a pumpkin way back in the day
