Not sure. The editing is done. It just depends on the publisher now.

Adnams Southwold mild and Taylor Ram Tam when I can get them. Uinta Wyld has impressed me here in the states. I have yet to try Brawler but I've heard great things about it.

It does. Means exactly what it always has. Your personal definition is just that, and it has no bearing on what most folks mean when speaking of session beers. I personally do not think the word "butter" means very much anymore.

Yes, exactly one hundred years ago.

My point is I use the word session for a beer I can drink 3-4 beers and feel fine. Dry Dock Hefe is 4.3%, so I can session that beer. Is it a session beer? I consider it a Hefeweizen that I can session. I also enjoy 'session' drinking Odell 90 Shilling at 5.3% Oh no!!!!! That is not a session beer according to the definition I guess! But I consider it a beer I can session. Everyone is different in their own tolerance. 'Session' is a historic beer word started a hundred years ago in England for various reasons and has so many different definitions according to who you talk to.

It does not matter what you use the word for. I don't know that there is an actual definition (marquis' and patto1ro's giggling aside) but there is an actual meaning and it has nothing to do with personal tolerance.

    This is true

    This is not true

    Sorry

    Wikipedia:
In the United States, a recent session beer definition has been proposed by beer writer Lew Bryson. His Session Beer Project blog includes a definition of 4.5% ABV or less for session beer. Followers of this definition include Notch Brewing, a session only beer brand. The Brewer Association has adopted a new category within their Great American Beer Fest competition which states a "session beer" is from 4.0%-5.1% ABV.[4]

If we're talking below 5% then I'd have to say right now it's Sol...hands down my favorite from Mexico, in the clear glass variety w/Modelo a close 2nd. So happy that I found a place that actually stocks the sixers & not just the quart bottles. Craft wise Breckinridge's Agave Wheat, Brooklyn's Summer & Columbus' Summer Teeth are usually in the summer rotation.

Wow, 3 pages and no 3F Gumballhead? Is 5.6% too much?

Yeah so my question is do you draw a distinction between a session and your typical night or afternoon out drinking at a bar?

Interesting. A session is a session, no? I would "label" a session as time spent with friends and family drinking beers and having a good time. At a bar or otherwise. So I guess no. Do you?

I wonder if the OP is glad he brought this up?

Yards - Philadelphia Pale Ale - 4.5% also their brawler is pretty damn good.

New Glarus Moon Man and Ale Asylum's Hopalicious are my go-to's, although the whole idea of a "sessionable beer" is sort of ridiculous. An evening of Two Hearted and a few Maharajas, now that's a session I can get behind.

A session in the context of "session ale" was the period the pub was open. There were two sessions a day , just like a school has a morning and afternoon session. Not to be confused with a drinking bout .

However I would accept this modern day aspect of the interpretation. It's just the alcohol percentage of the beers that they drink during this 'bout' I quibble with.

Yes I do draw a distinction. Otherwise what's the point? If what you are describing is your typical drinking behavior why do you need to call it anything different? Moreover as our friends across the pond have been attempting to tell us the goal of a session and thus a session beer is to be able to drink and emerge from the activity intact and able to do work.
