Which one is currently produced in greater numbers (i.e. first half 2012)?

We had an initial split of opinion yesterday 2-2 between BA's. My super logical skills of persuasion brought one over to make it 3-1 eventually.

But ultimately, we were all making guesses.

Anyone care to share, like, their opinion man?

Or you know, factual info, that's cool too.

I don't have any data, but my intuition tells me it's Pliny. It's been brewed for about 10 years, gets distribution to several states (bottles and kegs), and is probably better known outside of beer geek circles. Zombie Dust, OTOH, has been around for only about 18 months and AFAIK barely makes it out of the brewery/Chicago area.

I'd like to see some factual info too though.

    Cheers!

If I had to guess I'd go Pliney Pliny as well.

    I AM SORRY

THERE'S NO E IN PLINY!!! There's also no crying in baseball.

I'd bet Pliny. Do you think there's enough Citra for ZD to beat it? That seems like it would be the biggest issue.

Is citra the King Henry of hops?

I'd guess Pliny. I don't know how often ZD is brewed, but there's a new batch of Pliny every week or two.

Citra is currently the "in" hop, with good reason too; it's delicious.

Yep. It tastes citrusy and rare. Did you know they grow Citra hops in used PVW barrels?

The correct answer is "not enough of either beer is produced." As a result I am forced to pay enormous shipping charges to enjoy these sublime beverages.

Unfortunately I have never experienced either. Living in NJ it is almost impossible to get either, and I kinda don't want to get into the whole trading thing yet. :-/

Not having FFF distro, it's hard for me to guess. I can tell you that I have a swimming pool that is filled with Pliny however.

I'm not 100% sure either but I'd go with Pliny as well.

availability of citra + i think there's many more kegs of PtE than ZD makes me think that more PtE is made. i'm just guessing too though.

It's Pliny, duh. It comes in a 16.9oz bottle which is way bigger than 12oz. They would have to make more to fill the bigger bottles.

Nasty, that pliney is probably two weeks old. You might as well pull the plug on your pool and drain pour it. (sarcastic wink)

How these uninformed opinions are gonna settle a bet is beyond me.

Personally, I just think you couldn't resist the urge to make another Pliny versus... thread

I'm sure your "debate skills", pardon the euphemism, will defeat your opponents. They seem always to do so, and usually with an equal paucity of facts to back them.
